So our first wedding anniversary is this coming Sunday and I want to have our delicious wedding cake. There are so many ways and days/hours to defrost the cake online I was hoping you ladies will share with me some of your tips. Thank you!

Re: Share your thawing wedding cake tips - NBR
We had sooo much cake left over most of it went to waste
There really was no need to have 4 layers of actual cake, we should have gone with the fakeout but oh well, it was pretty. So we did have some the day after before we left for the honeymoon but I saved the top layer. Cannot wait to see it and eat some (and break my diet)
And here it is

Oh no! It fell? Please do share the story. And 4 hours was enough? I read someplace to leave it in the fridge for 4 days!

I wish we could have done this, but we left for our honeymoon immediately after our wedding. My parents seal-a-mealed a piece and froze the top layer and both came out tasting freezer-burnt. We had gotten our cake from Albertson's and just ordered a single layer cake that was the same as our wedding cake. It was sooo yummy
The idea of year-old wedding cakes gives me the willies.
We'll buy a top tier sized cake fresh for our anniversary.
...but you asked for advice, so I imagine let it thaw in the fridge so it doesn't stale.
Pretty sure this is what we did, I remember it tasted pretty good (not as good as the wedding day, but not bad!)
I took the opportunity to shove it in DH's face since we didnt on our wedding day.
