Newborn photo question

How do you time the newborn photo session around them peeing/pooing? It seems like most of them are naked babies on some kind of blanket...do accidents usually happen or is there a way to do it around that so there's no mess?

    We just did ours and the photographer just uses set ups that are all washable. She says pee and poo happen alot.. thank goodness my little one didnt though. I could imagine that being a mess.

    I've heard pee and poop is common and constant.  I had a friend who recently said her baby peed or pooped on every single surface/prop the photog had.

    LOL nice. I figured this would happen, but I never hear about it, just see the cute pictures and wondered how so many people got away with it. Maybe they don't!

    Accidents *will* happen. Most photographers bring tons of extra props. We went through four blankets during one session!

    We held a diaper under her and then took it off right before she started to shoot pics. However, she did pee on 2 blankets and the little hammock thing that we used as a prop, everything was washable. She even peed on me when we were doing photos of me holding her. A little baby pee never hurt anyone!

    My friend shoots newborn photos and she says she just brings lots of washable items-it's never a big deal to her if the baby poops/pees/throws up.  She still gets great photos!

    This is a really good question.  I was just thinking about this today trying to decide if we are going to get them professionally done or just do them at home (we have a professional camera).  Maybe it'll be better to get them done somewhere so the my DH doesn't have to deal with bodily baby fluids being squirted everywhere!   LOL

    I just took Elin's photos Sunday and we just put waterproof pads between the layers of blankets. I took her naked baby ones immediately after she peed and pooped. Everything I have is washable except the fur, got that I just hid a diaper under her bum.
