WTF? F/U to my guilty day/nyquil consumption...

...okay.  Whatever.

So I DID call my OB, who reaffirmed to me that DAYQUIL/NYQUIL are okay, as long as they do not contain alcohol!  WTH!  EVERYTHING on the internet says it's bad!   I'm going with my OB, but I am NOT taking it anymore.  I'll be relieved when all this second guessing is over.

Actually...when this baby comes, I'll probably be second guessing myself even more ;(

  • It's probably okay at THIS point in your pregnancy. I think with many of those drugs the main concern is during early development.

  • The internet is full of scary stuff, you did the right thing and checked with your OB's office and they gave you the green light. At this point I think you are totally ok, just bring it up at your next appt. Or if you are that worried give them another call and double check what they told you.

  • My OB says I can take alot of things that the interwebz say are bad.  The problem is, none of it has been tested, so no one can say for sure what's safe and what's not.  I usually ask my OB, and then also my pharmacist, and make my decision based off that.

However, my OB has given me the green light to have a glass of wine at night to help me sleep.  So he'd probably say that was fine too (if they were on my safe list, which I'm not sure of).

I really wouldn't worry about it anymore.

  • I got really sick with the flu when I was around 14 weeks and my OB said that I could take Dayquil since I was in the second trimester at that point. I think its just recommended that you don't take it during the first trimester. I wouldn't stress about it too much if you OB said its okay!

  • Unless the ingredients have changed over the years, they do contain alcohol. With that said, I think you'll be fine.
