Pregnant after IF

If you are CD-ing

Have you decided on a brand, and if so, why? I am trying to figure out if this could work for us. TIA

Re: If you are CD-ing

  • Have you checked out the CD board? They strongly recommend not committing to a brand ahead of time, since every baby and situation is different.

For NB, I'm using mostly prefolds, and I've picked up a few Bum Genius 4.0 OS, Fuzzi Bunz Pockets OS and WAHMs to try out as the little one grows.

    Married 08.06
    Started TTC 05.08
Me: Stage II endo, borderline high FSH
    DH: perfect
    1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p
    2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!

    1 FET in Aug 2013 = BFP!

  • I'm prepping my newborn stash as we speak:)

For the newborn stage I'm doing a combination of Lil Joey's, Grovia AIO's, Bumgenius XS, Kissaluvs fitteds & prefolds w/covers. I've also got a couple WAHM AIO's and fitteds.

For after the newborn stage I've been collecting a few diapers in a bunch of different brands. From everything I've read you really have to see what works best with your baby so you don't want to settle on one particular brand because it may not work. There are also some trials out there where they will send you a variety of diapers to try and you send back the one's you don't like. Jillian's Drawers seems to be the most popular trial.

The cloth diaper board is very helpful & they've got a great FAQ post at the top of the board. GL!

  • I got some GMD prefolds, Grovia AIO, Bumgenius, Kissaluvs, Fuzzibunz, basically a bunch of different styles and brands. I got the trial package from Jillian's Drawer and bought about 20 more (a dozen more prefolds and some AIOs, fitteds, and pockets)

  • I too am not committing to one brand.
I've started buying a variety, mainly anything on sale, and I have a whole bunch of different ones on my registry.
After my shower, I'm going to see what I've got and go from there - but bottom line is I am building my stash from a variety of brands so I can see what I like.

  • We were naive with DS and bought a bunch of bumgenius ahead of time.  But we ended up lucky as they worked great.  Aside from a few prefolds, we used BumGenius exclusively.  Hopefully they will work with LO#2 also.  I guess because our experience was just positive, it makes it hard to believe that some diapers don't work with some babies, but I guess there are other mothers who disagree.  And to answer your question :) we decide on BumGenius because of what we read on here, and also we wanted a diaper that would grown with the baby, and that had variable strengths so to speak, so a one size pocket is what we went with.  BumGenius seemed to be the best that we found (ha, I say we, but what I really mean is I, DH was happy to do whatever I said when it came/comes to CDing).

I started out with primarily Bum Genius (AIOs in XS for NB stage and one-size pockets once she got big enough). I feel like they are flexible enough to fit with any baby shape, and we haven't had any non-user-error leaks with them. I eventually ventured out to try FuzziBunz and Happy Heiny's, and those have been good too. Then, I discovered hyenacart.com, and I got into real trouble buying a bunch of random diapers and spending entirely too much money for the irresistible patterns. :) That said, I still only use BGs for bedtime because I trust them the most.

Ditto what everyone has said about the CD board being very helpful. I've learned a heck of a lot from them.

  • Thanks, ladies! You gave me some good ideas, and I'll check out thE CD board as well. I would say Fuzzy Buns looks good on paper to me, but I may go with the trial too.
