I was about 10lbs heavier when I got pregnant with #2 than I was with my DD. I'm currently 29 weeks and I'm still wearing my regular clothes. I lost 8-9lbs and am slowly gaining it back. I'm still 1lb under where I started with this pregnancy. I don't think I'm the norm though and I'm having a tough time gaining weight this time.
SAHM to the sweetest little girl and boy... I love my job!
I retained 10 lbs from my first pg and didn't have to wear any maternity clothes until 18 weeks and I was still able to get away with wearing my bella band with my regular pants for a couple of weeks after that. I too lost weight during the 1st tri (long-lived sinus infection), so that helped a bit...but I've also been chasing a toddler around and staying more active in general:o)
I still was carrying 8lbs of baby weight from #1 when I got PG with #2. I was in maternity pretty much right away (pants) because the bloat was awful and I just didn't feel like battling with my regular clothes. Comfort won out over my vanity.
I only had about 3 lbs of baby weight left when I got pregnant again (DD was 9 months). I am currently at 12 weeks and have really only gained about 1/2 a pound so far (I think its b/c I'm still BFing). I am not wearing maternity clothes yet but have been very bloated since the beginning so I've been wearing my fat pants and my bella band. I'm hoping to hold off on maternity clothes a little longer. I started wearing them around 16 weeks the first time.
I still had 10lbs from my 1st pregnancy that I hadn't lost and I was in maternity clothes by 12 weeks just because they were comfortable...i carry all my weight in my stomach though.
Sadly, for me, all my maternity shirts became my 'regular' shirts after I had DS. When I got pregnant with DD, I was sporting maternity pants from about 8 weeks...and my ones I wore from DS didn't fit, so I had to buy new ones, and new shirts as I got further along. It's really depressing.
I'm back down to the weight I was when I got pregnant with DD, but my shape is so different now...I need a whole new wardrobe.
I lost all but 4 lbs. However, I've been rocking my maternity pants since 8 weeks because they are just so comfortable. Between constant m/s and the bloat, I cannot have any pressure on my stomach. I figure that vanity is not worth throwing up more often.
I bought a fair amount of maternity clothes that I really like last time around, so I don't mind wearing them and most people cannot tell that I'm wearing maternity.
I didnt even know I was pregnant yet and my jeans were already tight. I got bigger much faster the second time around. I wasnt ready to tell my work for a while, and shoved myself into my regular clothes until about 16 weeks, but I was uncomfortable. On the weekends I went to maternity clothes pretty early because I just wanted to be comfortable.
EDIT- I had about 10 more pounds to lose from #1 when I got pregnant with #2.
I only had about 3 lbs leftover from baby #1, and I think I'll be in maternity clothes in a few weeks. I actually LOVE my mat. pants, so I'm pretty excited.
I think it was around 10 weeks for me. I never really got out of maternity clothes because my weight fluctuated so much before my first pregnancy. DS was 10 months when I got pregnant again!

I busted out the maternity jeans around 7 weeks. Was in maternity pants full time by 10 weeks. I am SO sick of maternity clothes.
I was 10 lbs over my pre-pg weight.
