If your LO is STTN I have a question for you.....

LO went to bed at 9:20 (by the time he finally feel asleep) and woke up at exactly 5:24 this morning! (woot woot)  He's been a poor sleeper always waking up after anywhere between 2-4 hours Tongue Tied What has been your experience after the first STTN? was it constant after that or did you get a taste and back to where it was?

Re: If your LO is STTN I have a question for you.....

  • She wakes up during growth spurts, which have been every 3-4 weeks for us.  And sometimes weekends are kind of rough because we all stay up later and nap less.  But it was pretty constant once she STTN once.  Good luck!

  • When LO slept from 11 to 8 the first time I thought it would be an exception but this has been going on for three weeks now but probably also because we finally established a little routine during the day.

  • Growth spurts and now her ability to roll have been the only times that we've had issues.  Otherwise, she's sleeping 10-7:30.

and about rolling, she started yesterday. I was up every 1-1.5 and I expect it will be this way for a bit. When baby learns a new "trick" they often like to stay up and practice it. It happened all the time with DS when he would learn how to pull up, crawl, roll etc.

  • DS started sleeping 8 or 9 hours at a time for a week and then regressed to waking up every night at 2am again for the past 3 nights.    I'm hoping he will get back to the 8 or 9 hours again soon.

  • It was consistent after the first time!  She just kept sleeping later and later.  Started getting up around 5:30, then 6, 7, sometimes 8.  But now it is usually 8pm-7am.

Good luck!  Life gets so much easier after they STTN!

  • The first week was spotty, and growth spurts too. Don't get used to it. Also it may take a while before your body stops waking when your LO used to wake you.

  • Did your LO's just stopped waking up to eat or did you let them cry it out? Also if I don't change his diaper in the middle of the night (and sometimes even if I do) he pees so much he soaks throught the diaper and gets his clothes wet....I'm assuming this will stop once he stops eating at night but I was just wondering how you handled this transition.

  • For the most part DD still sleeps through the night. Once in a while she will wake up in the middle of the night, usually during a growth spurt.
