  • Since the probability of me having a c-section is about 99.5%, I plan to wear the hospital gown for a least a day or 2, then hopefully I can wear my own yoga pants.  I'm not a "gown" type of girl.  I'll feel more human in my own stuff.

This!  Plus I have heard you have to wear the gown for a while anyways because they have to check you frequently down there-fun times!

  • I only plan on wearing the hosp gown if they make me. Otherwise, I'll be wearing my own pajamas or sweats and comfy t-shirts or nursing tank tops. I actually went out and stocked up on a few new pairs of sweats for in the hosp and while on mat leave.

  • I *highly* recommend not bringing anything you don't want to get bloody and gross.    :-)    After delivery, there is a lot of bleeding and they do check you/your bleeding quite frequently (and you have to change your pads/ice packs pretty frequently, too).    So I would discourage pants, of any kind, in general.

At one point, without my knowledge, I even completely peed myself after delivery -  so my hospital gown, bed, and everything else got soaked with blood and urine.   Delightful.   Needless to say, I was quite glad I didn't bring any fancy pants or tops.   :-)    Had we not been discharged (by choice) after 36 hours, I might have wanted more than just my own bathrobe, but I didn't put on any pants until we went home.

Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.
    Because we're fancy like that.

  • My mom is a great seamstress, so I am definitely thinking about having her make me a pretty hospital gown to wear while people are visiting.

I don't plan on wearing pants at all, and I am going to bring a pretty bathrobe with me to wear when we have people in the room since (you can call me vain if you want!) I don't want to be in pictures in an ugly hospital gown while freeboobing.

  • i'm going to go buy some nightgowns (i need some for now anyway, pants are so uncomfy!) and will prolly wear them after delivery.

maybe not. i know there is supposed to be a ton of blood and i'm sure other bodily fluids and i don't want to ruin anything.

  • I have a friend who works as an OB nurse in the hospital I'm delivering at, and she says that they advise moms to not bring anything to the hospital that they plan on taking home with them. Hospitals aren't clean places and the last thing you want to do is bring hitch-hiking bacteria home with you and your new baby.

I stayed in the hospital gown for my entire stay and just changed into my own clothes after I showered the morning that I was discharged. I also bought a really cheap pair of $5 slippers and a cheap pillow and pillowcase to use at the hospital and had hospital staff throw them out when I left. I'll do the same this time around.

This exactly. I got 2 pairs of comfy yoga pants (1 maternity, 1 not) for the end of pregnancy, the hospital, and after. I will probably be in my yoga pants for awhile. :)

  • After the baby is born, I plan to change into comfy, nicer than usual pjs. Something that I won't mind visitors seeing me in and something that I can breastfeed easily in. I may also bring a light robe in case I still feel uncomfortable around guests.

  • I plan on changing out of the gown as soon as they let me ( and hopefully before visitors arrive). I bought a couple of comfy lounge sets ( pants & zip-up hoodie combo) and plan on wearing them with just a comfy t-shirt or a tank that has a shelf bra in it.
