Flying Southwest - early boarding with baby?

We're flying Southwest this weekend for a wedding, and I just got the email about early bird check-in.  Do I need to buy the early bird check-in to get on early with a baby, or do they still let you board early without having to buy it?  I haven't flown Southwest in ages and I can't remember.

Thanks!

Amy

  • I think now you board between the A and B groups. Still early, but not ahead of everyone.

  • If you don't get A group, they allow family boarding between the A and B groups. No need to buy the early bird check in, you should still be fine if you don't get A on your own.

  • I wouldn't buy it.  You can - but you might get A55, which is only 5 people before family boarding.  And you might be able to get a better number checking in on your own. Just put a reminder on your calendar 24 hours prior to your flight.

FWIW - I flew with Baby N 2 weekends ago.  Boarded w/ family boarding (b/c I forgot to check us in early.)  Was completely fine.  We had good seats on the aisle and no problems.
