post baby plans...

Anyone else not planning on returning to work?  If so, when do you tell work?  Obviously I want to keep my benefits and take my leave, then I am planning to "ask" them if I can just do part time, I KNOW they will say no, so then I plan to resign.  Anyone else have any similar experience or plans?

  • I will be telling them 2 weeks before I want to quit, I don't get benefits or maternity so there is no point in waiting till after the baby is born. I'm thinking mid December (I want Christmas off and it's my rotation to work this year)

  • with my first son i took as much leave as i can off. it was almost a year. than roughly a couple weeks i was supposed to return to work, i just went in and tunred in my 2 weeks. i told hr that i was not able to find a good daycare and the cost of it would make no sense since i would be making what it would cost to watch him. they were totally fine with it.

  • We don't get benefits with my job (except for a free gym membership, discounted childcare, and discounted classes) so they are VERY flexible. I plan to work until I'm just too tired to stand anymore (I work in the childcare area) and then I'll have them to take me off the schedule until I'm ready to come back after the baby is born and a few months old. I'll still be employed, I just won't be on the schedule.

  • Similar situation here. I would like to do something part time from home, so I will go on maternity leave like normal, and hopefully we can work out something over that time. Otherwise, I will just come back to them with my 2 weeks.
