Aden + Anais swaddles...worth the $$??

Hi!

I'm being induced in about 2 weeks and am working on clearing out my registries. Hoping all you new mamas can help out :-) Anyone have the Aden+Anais muslin swaddle blankets? Are they worth the $? I have a decent bit of blankets, but nothing really as lightweight as the muslin blankets are (we live in FL, so it could be good to have lightweight blankets). Anyways - what have been your experience with these blankets? Worth the $ or just stick with what I have?

Thanks so much!! I'll be *officially* joining all of you soon!

Re: Aden + Anais swaddles...worth the $$??

  • I didn't register for them because I figured they wouldn't be worth the money, but an aunt bought them for us anyways. I LOVE them! I never use my other receiving blankets unless all of these are in the wash and I try to avoid that. The size is great, the material is great.

However, I just learned from another mom IRL that Target has their own brand of similar ones for cheaper. Her blanket looked just like mine, with a different pattern. I'm not sure of the price difference, but you might want to check it out.

  • I live in FL too and LOVE them!  They are totally worth the $$.  We have tons of blankets too, but we only rotate around those Aden + Anais ones. They're great for swaddling!

  • Love them!  They are actually the only blankets we have used since he was born.  Aden + Anais makes some patterns just for Target that are cheaper than the ones sold at BRU and Amazon so I would go to Target.  Also I just bought another 4 pk on Baby Steals for $28.  I have seen them on Baby Steals multiple times so if you keep an eye out you might be able to get them there.

  • Yay! Congratulations! I hope you have a smooth delivery.

I love our A&A blankets. In fact, I need to get a few more to put into rotation. They're the best for swaddling because of the size and stretch.

We live in Texas and now that we're going on 30+ days of triple-digit temps, I love that they are nice and light to wrap her with.

  • Thank you!! Aden+Anais are in my amazon shopping cart (found them for $29.99 for a 4 pack and should be able to use the 10% off completion coupon).

Can't wait to use them :-)

  • I have the Summer Infant muslin blankets which I love. I don't know if they are exactly the same or different from the A&A ones or not, but they are cheaper.

  • Love, love, love them. They're a perfect light cover for nursing, they breathe but keep LO warm. They're awesome.

I can't help you on the price aspect because MIL bought us ours, but we use them every time we go anywhere and quite often around the house, too. So I would buy one even if we didn't have any.

  • We love our's also. I didn't register for them because when I was registering, Target didn't carry them yet. We were with my mom one day doing last minute "is there anything else you need" shopping, and found these. Yes, they are expensive, but they are AWESOME!

They are big enough that as LO gets bigger, they can keep using it; lightweight enough for summer; and the stretch is awesome for tight swaddling!

  • I have them and while they're great light weight blankets, my DD doesn't like to be swaddled so they don't get used other than for a light blanket in the car, etc

  • We didn't buy A+A at first until a friend left hers here on accident when LO was about a week old. We ended up using it and loved it so much we bought our own. They are nice to swaddle in, even though we don't swaddle LO since she isn't really a fan of it. I personally love them because they are big and light weight. I use them to put over her carseat when we go out and then toss it on her legs in the colder stores. I also lightly put it over her in the house when she is laying on me or in the swing. Other blankets are way too hot here, but these lightweight ones are awesome and worth the money (we just got the 4 pack from Target for like $30 I think). They are one of our most used baby items, we always have an A+A blanket with us whether in or out of the house.

  • We have the Target ones and LOVE them. We don't swaddle either but they are great for the stroller, great for tummy time. We also use them at night because they are the perfect weight. Highly recommend them!
  • Totally worth it, especially if you live in FL as well! We got a pack and loved them, so we got another couple packs and we use them for EVERYTHING! I totally recommend them, just buy them at Target and not BRU or BBB and you'll save a few bucks!

  • I don't use them for swaddling but I love them for everything else. They're my favorite nursing cover, car seat cover, etc.

    same here.

  • I do think they're worth it.  I also like their sleep sacks, now that we've stopped swaddling.

  • H and I both agree we LOVE ours compared to any other blanket we received. I have even purchased more since DS was born. He does not like to be swaddled but we use one a day for EVERYTHING else. And they are big enough to use when he is older. Try ebay too.

    Congrats!

I got the ones on Baby Steals and the material is much, much stiffer than the ones direct from A&A.  I'm hoping they get softer with more washes.  My original ones are totally worth it though.  Love them.

  • Totally worth it!  The target ones are great.

  • Yes!  I live in Georgia and delivered in the middle of July.  I like the SwaddleMe blankets for later on but there is nothing like Aden + Anais muslin blankets.  Even my husband says they were one of our best purchases.
  • It's the only blankets we use. Love the size, love the material, love the stretch, and love the patterns!

  • We don't even use them for swaddling anymore, and they are still our absolute favorite blankets. We don't even bother with anything else.

They are HUGE (the original ones are 47x47, I think the Target/BRU ones that are cheaper are 44x44), but they fold up really small so they fit in a diaper bag easily. They are thin enough that they are great in hot humid climates, but you can fold them up and they are so soft that they are great for laying under your baby (we put one on top of her changing mat and made a little bed for her to nap in my husband's classroom while we got it ready for the first day of school this week!)

They certainly aren't the most necessary baby item, but they are one of our favorite luxuries.

  • Ditto everyone else... I got mine from A&A because I wanted the bigger ones than what they sell at Target. Rumor is the Target ones aren't as soft either.

But I love them here in AZ and I use them all the time with the baby. I want another set, I also want a dream blanket and a sleep sack lol

  • We lve these blankets ! We live in Cali and the blankets are lightweight and I wish I would of known how great  these blankets were so I could of taken back the rest of my receiving blankets for more Aden and Anais. You will be happy :)
  • Totally worth it. I got mine off of babysteals.com to save some $$. We held off on them, but living in Texas its so so hot all day and night, the lighter fabric is waaaay better to swaddle DD in. We love them. Plus, they're huge, and DD has outgrown most of the receiving blankets we got for swaddling or laying on.

  • Definitely, definitely worth it!!! In fact, they are my favorite item off my registry. They were a lifesaver before we had a/c, and still are great now that we do. They also function as a nursing cover if you're BFing, and sometimes i use them for myself too! :D

  • So worth the money! I love mine! We use them all day everyday! Great to throw in a stoller over the car seat swaddling anything! Highly rec! Congrats!

  • I had never heard of them, but a friend bought a 3 pack for me, and I'm so glad she did.

    A must for a summer baby. I don't think you'll need more than 3. 3 is enough.

  • They are by far the baby item from our registry that we've used the most with DD!  We drape them over her infant carrier when taking her to the car (to keep the sun off of her), swaddle her in them at night, and lay them over her when she naps.  It's been great to have breathable blankets since this summer has been so hot!
