Abnormal Pap Smear

Hi Ladies.   Got a call recently from my OB's nurse that my pap smear came back abnormal.  She said the OB would look at my cervix under a microscope (which I guess is called a Colposcopy) during my next visit to make sure there is nothing to be concerned about.

She did say the test for HPV came back negative so it could be just normal pregnancy changes.

Just wondering if anyone else has gone through this during their pregnancy.  TIA! 

P.S. - I have no history of abnormal pap smears.

    Not through pregnancy but a few months before I was told I had low grade changes to my cervix which is basically a watch and wait till after pregnancy. They take a few samples of the cervix, it's definitely uncomfortable but it's over pretty quickly. A few years ago I had an abnormal pap also and once they got down there they didn't even need to go further and do a colpo I think it was atypical cells of undetermined significance. Pregnancy does a lot of  changes and I hope once they get down there and take a closer look it's nothing you have to worry about during your pregnancy! Good Luck!!

    If your hpv is negative I'm surprised they're even doing a colpo (I'm a NP in an ob/gyn office). It won't hurt anything since they won't do a biopsy but I'm just surprised. ASCUS (the atypical cells) w/o HPV is nothing to worry about and can be caused from many things.

    I hope everything turns out normal!! I'm sure it's just wacky pregnancy stuff!

    I haven't had a pap during pregnancy (had one about 2 months prior to BFP). I did have an abnormal one back in 2006, but it came back normal at the repeat 3 months later.

    6 failed clomid/femara/TI cycles, 1 failed clomid/ovidrel/IUI cycle
    Successful Cycle: 5/12/11 - 1000mg Metformin + 100mg Clomid(late response) + TI = BFP

    2/13/12 - We proudly welcomed our daughter, Hadley Teresa!
