xp: Sleep help

When Lena was sleeping in our room in the pnp (up until about a month ago now), she would go down around 9pm and sleep til 8am or so. If she woke up, it would be in the 4am hour, drink a couple ounces and then fall asleep.

Once we moved her to her crib an started a bedtime routine (bath, book, bottle, bed) that started at 8 and had her in her crib by 8:30, she was sleeping til about 7am or so.

For the past week, she's been waking up at 5am and not wanting to go back to sleep in her crib. Is a week enough to create a "bad" habit? Because I've tried to get her to go back to sleep in her crib, but the longer she's awake in there, the sillier she gets with eating the bumper, scooching around, etc, so I pull her into bed with me and she falls asleep until 9 or later.

Last night it was warm, so I had her in the pnp with the a/c on in our bedroom. She woke up around 5am, had a bottle, and went back to sleep until 7:30.

Please help me improve what we're doing.

  • I don't have any sleep help for you unfortunately. But I did want to say that your little girl is so cute! I just love your new siggy picture of her! Hopefully someone will be able to help you with the sleep issue. Good luck!

  • Could you put her back to sleep in her pnp when she wakes up too early?  It seems like she sleeps better there.  And honestly, your sleep situation sounds awesome to me.  Audrey usually wakes up 2-3 times a night, and that's a GIANT improvement over what we had for the first 5 months.  It doesn't sound like Lena's habits needs much improving.

  • Oh, and I've also heard that you can put a few toys, books, etc. in your baby's crib after they're asleep for the night, so in the morning they can entertain themselves for awhile while you get a few more minutes of sleep.  That might work for her.

    And I also have to say that I love your new siggy picture!  Her little ponytails...SO darling!!
