August 2011 Moms

Induction today. Any tips on what to do/not to do before?

I'm scheduled for my induction this evening and I have my bag packed but I'm not too sure on what to expect. Should I try to eat a big meal or try to eat a small snack? What did you wear? I feel like I haven't had a baby before! LOL. Last time, my water broke at 5 i nthe morning so it was rush rush rush and no time to think. Now that its a planned thing, i'm at a lost and feel so unprepared. (Ironic isn't it?) TIA ladies and GL on L&D for you August mommies still with inside babies!

  • Don't eat a big meal.  We went to The Cheesecake Factory right before I went in for my induction for DS1 and it was a huge mistake.  I would definitely eat, but not too much and not something that is going to sit around in your stomach for a long time.

It doesn't matter what you wear, they will have you change into a gown as soon as you get there.

    Good luck!!!

  • I go in for my induction at 630a tomorrow morning. My OB instructed me not to eat or drink anything after midnight. I would call the hospital and ask them when they normally instruct their patients to do or not to do. But I will certainly be eating a large dinner tonight. GL and *easy labor dust* :)
  • They should have told you when to eat last, unless you are just getting cervadil tonight, in that case you could eat right before you go in if you wanted probably. I'd eat something filling but nothing that may linger too long.

Also, if you can nap...do it. Good luck!

  • I go in tomorrow night to start the induction process. Since I have GD, I was instructed to eat a light meal before I go in. I think they will just be doing the cervix thing tomorrow night, then full induction early on Tuesday. So, I'm glad they are going to let me eat a little something.

I hope you can eat something before you go to the hospital, because you will be so hungry if you have to wait until your baby is born to eat. Definitely call and ask about it.

I'm just going to wear my everyday clothes to the hospital. I'm hoping they will let me wear one of my nightgowns under whatever gown they are going to want me to wear.

Good luck to you! I'll be right behind you tomorrow night!
