For 2+ Moms... Induction

For second time moms who have been induced, how did your induction go in comparison to your first L&D. I'm quite nervous as my L&D with DD was 24 hours start to finish (went into labor naturally @ 39w6d). I am 1cm 50% effaced and completely softened as of Thursday. I am so petrified that I will end up in a c-section. Any hope will help! thanks ladies :)

Re: For 2+ Moms... Induction

  • I can't really compare it to my first because I don't know how long I was in labor (no one figured it out until I was 8cm). But my induction went very well. I started about where you are now and from being admitted to the hospital to baby in my arms was 18 hours - 12 of those happened before my water broke. Good luck!

  • I have no advice, I'm in the same boat. I had a very long labor with DD, and it's looking likely that I will be induced. I haven't made a ton of progress, I'm also only 1cm, even at 41 weeks. They're letting me go until Wednesday when I'll be 41.5 weeks. I'm not terribly afraid of being induced, but I am really afraid of a c-section. Hopefully everything goes smoothly for us!
  • I wasn't induced with my son. Labored for about 12 hours and pushed for about 40 mins. I was induced this time and from start of the pit to he being on my chest was just over 7 hours, including less than 10 mins if pushing.
  • I was induced with DS and it took 24 hours start to finish, pushed for 1 hour.

I was just induced this past Wednesday with DD and it was 18 hours from start to finish, only pushed for 3 minutes.

  • My first pregnancy I went into labor on my own, labor in total was about 40hrs with an hour of pushing. It resulted in a 1st degree tear and major hemorrhoids.

This one I was induced. I was in labor for about 10 hours and it took 5 pushes total and no tears or hemorrhoid inflammation. They used cervadil to ripen my cervix at about 8pm. Contractions started rolling in around 10pm. Epidural at 5:30 a.m. Baby at 8:58.

  • I'm scheduled for induction as well. With my first (no induction) I was in labor for 18 hours (really 21hrs but I didn't know I was laboring until my water broke!). I'm hoping for a smooth and easy induction but I am kinda apprehensive and nervous too. Hoping all goes to plan for you! GL
