Anyone else? anyone???
It seems like everyone I know that has a baby says they STTN. My DS is sooooo inconsistent at night. Sometimes he wakes up once, or twice, or more. And then about once every 2 weeks he teases me and sleeps from 9 to 5. He is driving me LOCO!
I am starting to get really nervous because I start work in 2 weeks and I have to leave with the baby at 6 am.
Uggh, sorry for the vent. Just looking for some commiseration(is the even a word? lol)
Re: My baby is NOT sttn!!!!
My baby is not, and has never, STTN. When she was in the co-sleeper, she would sleep from about 8-3, wake up for a bottle, sleep again from 4-5 then fuss unless I took her to bed with me.
Now she's in her crib and she sleeps from about 8-1, wakes up to fuss or burp, sleeps again until 2:00 or 2:30 for a bottle. Wakes up again around 4 to fuss, maybe another hour, then will fuss unless I take her to bed with me. Around 6am, she starts squirming and flailing alternating with dozing, so really I'm awake from 6am on.
You are not alone. I am so jealous of all these babies that sleep for 10 or 12 hours. I haven't gotten more than a 5 hour stretch of sleep since she was born and that happened once. Usually it's 3, maybe 4 hours if I'm lucky.
I am also going back to work in 2 weeks and I'm really worried I'm going to fall asleep at my desk every day.
I'm a teacher - I am going to be so cranky with my students!!! I had just assumed that by now he would have a "schedule" - HA.
Good luck, maybe tonight will be your STTN night. I hope for this every time I go to bed

I'm really sorry you're going through this. Until 6 weeks my little guy was only sleeping in 2 hour increments all night long (and sometimes 1 3-hour).
In the end, the only thing that worked for me was
putting him on his stomach. I have a lot of guilt about doing this but we both sleep so well that I can't bring myself to stop (he slept 6 hours straight the first night I tried it and now sleeps 9 hours straight) . . .
I can't find the link right now but there's some information I read somewhere that said that babies shouldn't STTN at this age and it's healthier for them not to. Babies who don't STTN have a lower risk of SIDS and there were some other health benefits I read too. Does that make you feel better?
K will STTN for two weeks, then stop for a month. Then go two nights a row, then stop.
My pedi says by 6 months she does not need to eat in the middle of the night. My mom is coming next week, but I think after that I will try sleep training. I am going back to work soon also and I can't be getting up twice a night!
How do you deal with an infant not STTN and being 51 weeks pregnant!!!
This!
Two nights ago he slept 6 hours straight, then he went back to 3 hr increments ugh!
My Blog: Naturally Mindful
DS had been giving me 4-7hr stretches and then recently (due to teething) has gone to crap. It's inconsistent to say the least. I do Everything the same, every stinking night and some nights he'll go from 9:30-4, sometimes he's up at 5, sometimes he's up at 2, or even earlier. I've started just shoving the soother in his mouth if it's earlier than 3:30 or so because I KNOW he can do 6hrs without a feed if he's not crying. He only just fusses awake and can't self soothe. If he cries then I feed him of course, but it's just fussing.
My LC says that any STTN people get now is lucky because we're all in for it for the 4 month wake, and then after that when they start solids, a lot of babies get their milk intake at night (if you're BFing). Girls at my boobgroup have 7,8,9 month old babies that are up 4 or more times a night!
I've known about it for a while because of my BFing group gals. It sounds Awful! But, doing some research I've read that FFbabies are less likely to go through it. So, you'll be okay! (maybe... haha) It's because FF babies have the bottle and can hold onto it by that age, some, and can look around and see the world. BF babies are constricted when eating so they go throught he 4 month wake at the time because they wnat to see everything, get distracted, etc and since at bedtime it's dark and quiet, they can eat properly then.
Hope that helps, and made sense...
This last week Owen has actually regressed. He was sleeping until somewhere between 2 and 4 and now it's only until about 1 and he's up every 90 minutes or two hours after that.
It's driving me a bit bonkers, but I keep reminding myself it won't last forever.

This. Hudson was doing such a great job at going to bed around 7:45 and not waking until 3-4 and then waking at & for the day. NOT ANYMORE. I have NO idea what is going on. Could it be the 4-month wake at 15 weeks? I am dying.

It's hard being 51 weeks pregnant... lol, and I am not intelligent enough to figure out how to change my siggy since they updated the site in, oh, I guess it was around December. Hence why there is still a pic of my precious dog and not one of my lovey!
