1st Trimester

More spotting concerns... TMI?

So we told our parents tonight about the baby.  Not even an hour afterwards, we came home and I had a small red spot on my panties. I have only been cramping slightly- no more than the other days this week and definitely not AF-like. Nothing major, but I am definitely freaking out.  There was a little more when I looked into it further but still only one spot on my panties.  I've seen a lot of posts about spotting today, but I don't have an OB yet (we're having scheduling conflicts) so who do I call on Monday? This is our first pregnancy and I'm just so worried something could happen. Can any ladies offer up some encouragement?  I really hope it goes away so that I can enjoy my weekend, especially so we can tell our siblings without being worried that its  a M/C or something more serious.

  • I had a small bit of spotting at about the same time. They said he was normal because you are so early. As long as the bleeding doesn't get worse I think your ok. I'd give the OB office a call Monday if your still concerned and you can talk to someone there. Good luck! I'm sure you'll be fine!

  • Most likely its implantation bleeding, if its only a couple spots I wouldn't worry too much.  I had some bleeding with my first pregnancy and it turned out to be a low placenta that was covering my cervix which caused some bleeding, but the placenta ended up rising when as my uterus grew.  Just don't panic and take it easy, most likely its nothing major unless you are bleeding a lot with lots of cramping.

  • I had spotting all the last weekend so I know how scary it is :(  My midwive wasn't concerned because it was a just a little bit (mainly when I wiped) and I wasn't cramping.  I made an appointment (I'm 7 weeks BTW) and she took some bloodwork and apparently my hormones are a little off so I have a supplement to fix that and now the bleeding has stopped.  I also had an internal ultersound and got to see the baby's heartbeat!  I would def. follow through just to give you peace of mind.

  • Thanks ladies for the reassurance. I'm feeling a little more peace about this; I hope to wait it out this weekend and give my OB a call on Monday anyway.  I'm hoping to sleep tonight and not worry about it!

  • I have been spotting for almost 3 weeks now.  It's dark brown and only when I wipe, however, twice now I have had bright red blood, again just when I wiped.  We had our first appointment today, and although we're not quite as far along as we thought (I need to update my ticker), we saw the gestational and yolk sac bright and clear!  My uterus looked perfectly normal with no bleeding, so the doctor isn't worried.  I'd call your doctor just for peace of mind, but I'm sure everything is okay!

  • My thoughts are, if you are in doubt and are able, just go to an ER.  My doctor told me that only browner spotting was normal for implantation ( but everyone has different opinions)  I spotted dark brown for 3ish weeks with this pregnancy.  I had a MC in December but it was small gushes of red blood.
