So I'm planning a baby shower for a friend (she JUST found out that she's pregnant so I'm not putting down any deposits or committing to anything yet but I do like to at least have some sort of a plan started early). And since most of our showers were pretty recent, I want to know what your favorite parts of your shower were.
A few specific questions:
1. (I hate games because they're all so cheesy but I'm going to ask anyway) Were there any games that you particularly enjoyed?
2. Any nifty food items present at the shower?
3. Was there anything unique that was done at your shower that you hadn't seen in the past?
4. Was there any super cool theme?
5. Any fun activities?
6. Was there anything missing that you would have liked to have seen?
Re: Favorite things about your shower
I too majorly dislike most games. These weren't done at my shower, but the ones I've liked the most are the ones that don't take up more time and people can do while other stuff is happening.
Ones I've liked are the bingo type, where you write in what you think the person will get and then mark off when they open that present AND set a timer to go off once or twice while opening presents. Whoever's gift is being opened at that time gets the prize.
We did do one at my shower that was A-Z and you had to write something baby or pregnancy related. Folks seemed to enjoy that one.
Some things I loved:
My friends had plain white onsies and bibs with fabric markers for everyone to decorate.
Also, had pages to go into a book with wishes and advice for us.
Both kept guests busy, helped break the ice.
Definitely appreciated that there was dessert during presents to hopefully limit the boredom.
Other than that, it was a basic lunch party with a buffet, iced tea/lemonade with fancy mix ins, etc. No games, which I appreciated.
Its so nice of you to plan this far in advance for your friend.
I looove photos, so at my shower, my friends had a cake with a photo of me as a baby. Then they had baby photos of me, DH and my nephew. They asked everyone to bring a baby photo of themselves and then put them up around the room and had people guess who's photo was who's. (Ugh. There's that who's/whose issue again...) It was fun to see everyone's baby photos!
It was a little hard at mine because I had a lot of different people from different parts of my life, but it was still fun.

I used the book idea and got so many sweet books for baby's library!
The hostess whose house we used had three hurricanes vases full of lots of little boy trinkets- it spelled B-O-Y, and inside where little cars, army men, sports memorabilia. It was SO cute!
My favorite and most unique thing at my shower was my guestbook from the Guestbook Store. I had one at my wedding also. They're really cool because it has questions about how the guest met the guest of honor, draw pictures, and give advice!

They played bingo at my shower, but a bit different than what PP described above. My SIL made bingo cards with numbers 1-30 (apparently you can go online and use a random number generator). Then she put post-its on each present 1-30 and randomly handed them to me. The guests used stickers to mark their bingo board as I opened. 1st 3 guests to get to bingo got a small present.
We had a Co-Ed shower a couple of weeks which was SO MUCH fun! My boyfriend loved the idea of having his guy friends/beer involved lol.
We played a lot of games for both sexes- the funniest was the men playing a "tie your shoe without popping the balloon under your shirt"
HILARIOUS
1. (I hate games because they're all so cheesy but I'm going to ask anyway) Were there any games that you particularly enjoyed? We had baby bingo and my mom went online to this place where you could generate your own bingo cards and made them so people wouldn't cheat. Then we also played make as many words as you can out of the baby's name. https://print-bingo.com 2. Any nifty food items present at the shower? Not really, we had beef, baked chicken, mostacholi, italian potatoes, and salad. We also had chocolate cake with strawberries and banana's in the center with whipped cream frosting. 3. Was there anything unique that was done at your shower that you hadn't seen in the past? I have never seen the name game, and I've been to quite a few baby showers. 4. Was there any super cool theme? We did baby foot prints and hand prints.
Thanks ladies!!!
Like I said, she JUST got her BFP (3 of them actually)--her period isn't even due until tomorrow. So I'm guessing she'll be due late April/early May but it's exciting to start thinking about all of this for someone else instead of stressing over it for myself lol.
1. (I hate games because they're all so cheesy but I'm going to ask anyway) Were there any games that you particularly enjoyed? The only shower game I like is the present bingo. it keeps the guests from getting bored while watching the person open a bazillion gifts.
2. Any nifty food items present at the shower? Nothing special. Mine were all done later in the afternoon so it was just hors d'houvres (sp?) and cake.
3. Was there anything unique that was done at your shower that you hadn't seen in the past? My SIL bought a bunch of plain white onsies and some puff/fabric paint so people could decorate a onsie for LO.
4. Was there any super cool theme? No themes, just family/friends getting together to celebrate.
5. Any fun activities? See #3
6. Was there anything missing that you would have liked to have seen? Nope. Getting to see family and friends I don't get to see often was enough for me.
