WWYD- leaving LO...

I haven't really been away from M, except for 1 trip to the grocery store, since she was born.

I am supposed to go to a ladies night with friends tonight and have been looking forward to it for weeks.

DH tells me last night that he feels a cold coming on.  He's supposed to be alone with her tonight.  The only friends I'd leave her with are also going to the get together.  There is no one else.

Would you still leave your LO with DH knowing he is coming down with something?  He has been vaccinated against whooping cough and the flu.  He isn't coughing or sneezing- right now he just has the chills and body aches.

Re: WWYD- leaving LO...

  • I'd go anyway, unless he feels like he can't care for her. Especially after reading your post yesterday, you need to get out of the house!

  • I would go!  When did he get vaccinated?  2 days after DH had his he felt like that for an evening.  Go and enjoy yourself!

  • As long as he feels like he's not so sick that it's a risk of him dropping her, or sleeping too deeply to hear her, I'd leave them. If it's a matter of you not wanting DD to get sick, remember he's her dad, not a babysitter you can forbid from seeing her.

  • I wouldn't leave Molly with someone that was sick or coming down with someone and running a fever.. Although, if you are BF she has your antibodies so she might be okay b/c you are probably fighting whatever your DH has.

    But, that is just me..

  • BTDT.  DH had a bit of a cold or allergies a few weeks ago.  DD was fin.  She also ended up with a running nose, but nothing a little saline (Little Noses spray) couldn't take care of.

I say go.  Even if you stay home, YH will still be around her.  It's unavoidable.

  • since you two live together anyway (I'm guessing) she's already getting exposed to whatever germs both of you have....I'd say go out. Just remind DH to keep washing his hands and maybe use sanitizer...plus no kisses :)

  • I would not go.  One night of fun is not worth days of dealing with a sick baby.

  • thanks for the input ladies.  I am going to go.  He doesn't seem to be that sick- and he has held her yesterday and today so it's not like she hasn't already been around him.

  • Good for you! I was going to second all the other moms saying to go. I've only been away from LO 4 times and I'm going stir crazy so I can't imagine how you must feel, especially if that 1 time was to the friggin grocery store and not someplace fun! I'm sure LO will be fine.

  • Go. You would tend to lo if you were sick, he can too! It's not like she isn't already exposed.
