Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Won't fall asleep - WWYD?

So I put my DD down for a nap about 30 minutes ago.  Just stuck her in her crib, left a light on because then she won't cry...and usually she'll play for a few minutes and then pass out.  Well...she's still awake!  She's just rolling around in her crib, playing with her lovey and the crib rails.  She's content - but not asleep!  I feel like a neglectful parent to just leave her in there...but she really needs a nap!  WWYD?

Should I take her out and try again later?  Do you think she isn't actually tired?

Do I leave her because she's not upset and hope eventually she'll fall asleep?

Can't say I've ever run into this before.  Usually she'd be crying by now if she was still awake, so I'd go in and get her.

  • Sometimes the Mouse isn't interested in napping, and just wants some down time in her crib. I figure so long as she's relaxing and not crying, that's as good as a nap. If she's content just chilling out in her crib, then I just leave her there.

    I agree
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
