Help, my pump died today and i need recommendations...

So this morning my milk started to come in and I got out my breast pump from DS and put my new parts and realized that the motor in my Medela Pump in Style is all but dead......it took me 20 mins to pump 1 oz!

So reluctantly we need to go out today and buy a new pump. Does anyone have any recommendations???  we are debating if something cheaper would work or if we should bite the bullet and get another expensive pump????

thanks in advance ladies....I'm desperate and sore!

  • I bought the Ameda Purely Yours at the hospital. It was only $130. I'm having latching issues with DS so I have been power pumping and it gets quite the use!

  • I really, really want a hygeia pump. But they're even more expensive than medela. But if I was buying a new pump (and would be pumping a lot), that's what I'd get.

I'm a SAHM now, so if my pump dies, I'll replace it with something cheaper, just because I won't need to pump often.

  • I bought the Lansinoh and I loved it. I've heard it's the same as the Ameda but I'm not positive on that.

  • I would call Medela ASAP.  They have amazing customer service.  I know someone who was having problems with her pump, and they overnighted her a new one for free.

In the meantime, I would probably just rent a pump from the hospital, it will be cheaper than going out and buying a new pump if you don't necessarily have to.

  • Thanks Ladies!  I ended up getting another Pump in Style, it worked well with DS and we had spent alot of money on all the coordinating Medela products.

This. I know how devestating it is for your pump to go out as this happened to me with my DS1. I called Medela ( I had the Medela PISA) and had a new pump next day. I used the Medela manual pump I got from the hospital until my new one arrived.
