The hospital where I delivered used Pampers Swaddlers for all newborns and I had a box of them so that's what we used when we brought DS home. We didn't have any problems with them at all. Now we're out of Pampers and opened the box of Huggies that my grandmother bought for us (she started buying diapers in all sizes as soon as we told her we were expecting!). In the two days we've been using them, he's peed through them 3 times! We never had any problems with the Pampers.
Is it the Huggies or could it be the wrong size? The newborn size of Pampers seemed to work fine.
If it is the brand, how hard is it to exchange diapers at Target? My grandmother bought many boxes of diapers but they're all Huggies.
Thanks!
Re: Already Moms of Boys
I'm usually a lurker but I had my son on the 2nd and have this same issue with the Huggies newborn. I think it's the umbilical cord cutout. We got Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive and they are so much better. I will say that he's very close to sizing out of the newborn size so yesterday I put him in a size 1 Huggies and he didn't pee out of that.
Also, are you by chance pointing his penis down when you put the diaper on? That made the world of difference also.

Ok, I'm glad it's not just us!
Branrob: yes, we are making sure to point his penis down, I thought of that but unfortunately it's not helping. I wonder if you're right about it being the umbilical cord cut out.

The Pampers Swaddlers have this indicator line as well. It is nice! Unfortunately we have used both Huggies and Pampers so far, and he's peed out of both of them.
Yup, our Pampers Swaddlers has the stripe as well. We love it!
Both of our boys peed out of the Huggies. We had been told that Pampers worked better for boys, but we thought we'd try it for ourselves. We didn't use the rest of the Huggies. It's Pampers for us from here on out.
They used the Pampers Swaddlers for preemies in the NICU but I had already planned on using pampers because I also heard they were better for boys. He had some leaking problems in the NICU, one day I got there and they had 3 dirty outfits for me to take home because he peed through. However, we have not had any leaks in the 5 weeks that he has been home.
We registered for Pampers also so we have some packages of 1s-4s. Unfortunately we didnt get any newborn and it looks like Logan will be in newborns for a while still.
We have been a Pampers Family for 15 months now. We used some Huggies we got as gifts but I didn't like them.
Also make sure you pullout the lining that seals between legs and diapers, I found that sometimes WITH ALL diapers they stick and if you don't do it you will have leaks. The 4 Grandparents are famous for this.
Just to add to this thread, had the same experience with Huggies vs. Pampers for our guy, but an additional warning that not all Pampers are created equal. We had constant leaks with Pampers Baby Dry, but have been leak-free now that we switched back to Swaddlers. Think we'll be sticking with them for now...
