Need Recommendations for Newborn Daycare or Nanny (Norwalk, Darien Area)

Does anyone have any recommendations for daycare or nanny for a newborn in the Darien, Norwalk Area?  How much does it usally cost?  We are trying to decide between a live-out nanny or daycare.  Thanks1

  • I toured Tutor Time in Norwalk and they seemed good.  They are close to $1800 a month.  I'm interested to hear about the cost of a nanny.

  • I use a nanny and we pay about $1400/month. I also work from home though and end up doing some of the care and nursing.

  • I heard Tutor Time was good too.  I'm hoping to find a nanny at least for the first year.  My husband works at home.  How did you find your nanny?  Did you go through and agency?
  • You could use a Doula for the first little while (didn't see how old your LO is, but after LO is 8ish weeks a regular sitter w/infant experience is usually sufficient). Mother's Care doulas are like $26 or $28/hr. We used them regularly with DS. Now we use a sitter we hired through The Sitting Service of CT, who we paid a $295 (I think) fee to and then we pay our sitter $15/hr. She has become a member of our family and we love her tons.

  • Thanks! LO will be 3 months when I go back to work.  If you have a nanny and want the nanny to bring LO to outside activities (like storytime, etc) do you pay extra?  If so, how do you figure out the amount?  We don't have another car for the nanny.
  • How old will your LO be when you start?  We're using Tumble Bugs in Norwalk, but also liked All Saints.  GL
  • She will only be 3 months.  We are finding that nannies are about $15 and up/hr.
