I will start seeing my OB at 9w3d. I have a couple questions about the first appointment. Will they try to listen for a heartbeat? And at this point will they be able to hear it? I might reschedule it for later to see if that might be more helpful! What do you think?
Re: OB Appointment Question
My case was different as I was under the care of my RE through week 12 and then released to my OB so I didnt see my OB until 14 weeks. At that appt they checked for the HB. I will say that between 6-7wks is when you can detect first HB so if they check you at 9wks you'll definitely hear it. Not sure if common practice for your OB to check it on the first visit though.
IUI#2 - 01/07/09 = BFP!!! Twins!! Pre-term labor 20 weeks
IUI#3 - 1/31/10 = BFP!!!! M/C - 8wks
IVF #1 - 7/2010 = c/p
FET - 9/2010 = another c/p
IUI#4 - 2/14/11 = BFP!
I had my last RE appt at 9w and saw my OB at 10w4d. They did try to find the heartbeat with the doppler but couldn't. They then made me wait over an hour for an u/s room to be available, which just worried me that I had lost the baby... the nurse was very negative about the whole thing. Thankfully when they did the u/s, baby was there measuring fine with a great heartbeat.
I just want to tell you DO NOT stress if you don't hear a heartbeat that early. My doc later told me sometimes they can't pick it up until 12-14w with a doppler, just depends on where baby and placenta are and your build as well.
11/2010 DH SA good...01/2011 HSG is clear...01/2011 Consult with RE
suprise BFP but m/c on 2/7/11
03/2011 50 mg clomid=BFN
04/2011 clomid+bromocriptine+IUI=BFP at 11dpiui
Beta #1(11dpiui)=33, Beta #2 (13dpiui)=96, Beta #3 (20dpiui)=1910, Beta #4 (26dpiui)=20,134
I saw my RE for the last time the day before my first OB appt. Since the RE did an u/s the day before, the OB didn't do one or listen for the HB (too early). Honestly, I was totally disappointed by the fact that my OB appt was a typical yearly exam (it was time for my yearly anyways).
I'm not sure that I would re-schedule, I would want to know that everything is going well still. But it's your call, of course. GL!
We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And HOPE does not dissappoint.
