2nd Trimester

vaginal pressure?

I've been having pressure in my vagina only when I'm standing... it goes away when I sit/lie down. Is that normal?

I'm only 15 weeks but w/ twins... I didn't experience this until the last few weeks of my last pregnancy.

I'm only concerned b/c of stories I've heard about preterm labor due to incompetent cervix.  Anyone else experienced this in 2nd tri?

TIA!

Re: vaginal pressure?

  • I don't really have an answer to this...only that I would suggest calling your Dr., especially since it's a feeling you recognize from the last few weeks of your last pregnancy.  G/l!

  • I would guess it's just the twins sitting REALLY low, but if you are concerned, I also suggest calling your Doc.

  • Do you feel like that everyday, or just randomly? This is WAY TMI, but I sometimes feel pressure way down when I have to poop. It goes away after I do ...

  • When i walk at night I feel an increasing amount of pressure but don't notice it any other time. I asked my ob about it earlier this week and she said it is probably normal stretching.
  • I'm not having twins, but started feeling pressure early on like 10 or so weeks maybe a bit later.  My Dr. said that it was just the way my uterus was sitting and it would go away sometime after 20 weeks or so when my uterus moved up.  I still feel it on and off.  I found that at night the way I sleep effects how much pressure I have.  I have been sleeping with a body pillow between my knees and it seems to help.
  • yeah, I think it's probably fine, I would call my dr if it was normal business hours, but I guess I'll wait til monday if I still have it.

it's only when I'm standing or walking for a long time. It's not bad enough for me to be really concerned.

    THanks!

  • I've had similar issues...when I am laying down everything's fine but once I get up and move around I have pressure down low. I talked to my doctor about this yesterday and he said it was normal, just the way that the baby was laying. He told me to take it easy and to take tylenol if it bothered me. I would definitely put a call in on Monday to your doctor to let them know what's going on. I was freaking out about it before I talked to my doctor lol

  • I did have preterm labor at 29 weeks with DS and I didn't feel the pressure when I was having contractions. I started feeling the pressure once I was 100% effaced and 4 cm dialted.  I was like that for 7 weeks and I felt like I had a bowling ball between my legs.  Now I do get paranoid every time I feel pressure and even though it's no where near what I felt before it still worries me. I always ask my dr about it at every appointment and she said I will start to feel things earlier this time around since this is my 2nd pregnancy.  As PP mentioned call you dr during business hours and I think it should be fine as long as it goes away after you rest.

  • It is normal... I am 22 weeks along and the same thing is happening to me... I was so worried that I called the Dr. and she said that as long as there is no bleeding, spotting, discharge or contractions everything is fine... Just another pregnancy symptom that allot of people tend not to talk about...

But  drink allot of water, and don't stay on your feet to long without a rest... If it goes a way the next day then everything is good... I have good days and bad... but as long as I feel my LO kicking and have none of those bad symptoms then I am just going to have to accept this new pain... all part of being pregnant.

  • I have been having vaginal pressure for the past 6  weeks some days worse than others. My doctor sent me in to LandD to make sure it wasnt pre-term labor ( i was 95% sure it wasnt) and sure enough it wasnt everything was fine. They cant explain exactly why I have the pressure but everything is normal with the cervix etc... So i just get to deal with the pressure which is sometimes very painful.
