Splash Pads??

We haven't been to a splash pad in the cities yet. I've looked up a few and I just don't know which ones are the "best".

Can you mamas give me some feedback please? How did you like them and how much did they cost? Seems like they are all pretty cheap, so that' makes me happy! Also do they allow outside food and/or do they give you stamps to re-enter?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Splash Pads??

  • I've only been to one, it was recommended to me by someone on here. It's in Minnehaha Park - at the Wabun picnic area. It's free and from what I could tell outside food was allowed. There is a gate around it and there are a few picnic tables inside the gated area as well as a lot of bench seating. It was really clean and well kept. There is also a lot of picnic areas outside the gated part. There was a decent bathroom there - your typical outdoor park kind, but it was clean and had lots of stalls. We found free parking really close to the splash pad and there was also some paid parking that was $0.75/hour close by.

My 11 month old daughter really enjoyed it. I also have friends with kids who are between 1 1/2 & 3 and they love it too!

  • We also went yesterday to Hiawatha Park in S Mpls right off 28th Ave and 43rd St, they have a brand new one that just opened this year. I just took DD, who's almost 3 and she loved it. Was very clean, I don't know if you can have snacks right in there technically, but I saw some kids having them. Great park right next to it as well. And is free.
