I applied for life insurance to supplement my policy through work and had a 45 minute phone interview yesterday (ugh). They clearly did not know how to deal with someone who had recently had a baby. Here is my favorite series of questions:
Q: Have you missed more than 5 consecutive days of work or school in the past 5 years?
A: Does maternity leave count? Then yes. I'm currently on maternity leave.
Q: What as the condition that caused you to miss work?
A: That would be having a baby
Q: Oh right. And did you see a doctor for your condition during that time? What was the date?
A: Well I delivered the baby so I guess so. That was on June 15th
Q: What was the outcome of that visit?
A: Um, I had a baby.
Q: Was that it?
A: Yep. That was it.
The poor interviewer was so freaked out since she had to deviate from her normal questions. If I hadn't been so annoyed that the damn interview lasted forever I would have felt bad for her.

Re: Silly life insurance interview yesterday
Funny..but totally understandable that you would be annoyed.
The condition that caused you to miss work... pretty funny. If I were her I would just skip that one. I don't think any approved time off should count as missed days. She should've said No when you asked if maternity leave counted. Sounds so horribly awkward.
We got supplemental life insurance while I was pregnant, and the questions then were also pretty hilarious. Fortunately they have wide leeway for all the results for pregnant women--obviously my weight and blood pressure were different from what they would be when I'm not pregnant!
I thought the "have you ever smoked" question being asked about six different times was the best.
They asked me this one too!
