Hi! My husband and I are relocating to Nashville from Philadelphia in two weeks!!! Our new home is in the Bellvue area. We are both very unfamiliar with the area-any recommendations on OBGYN's, hospitals, etc would be greatly appreciated. I am almost 25 weeks pregnant with my first baby. Thank you so much for any input.
Warm Regards,
Melissa
Re: Moving to Nashville. Need OBGYN advice please!!!
Melissa,
My OBGYN is/was (just moved from nashville to florida) Dr. Lynn Ellington in the Williamson County Hospital. Her clinic is called The Womens Group of Franklin. Obviously it is all women that work there in the office and everyone is super nice and accomadating. Everyone is very professional and honest. Anytime I had the slightest contraction they would have me come into the office to monitor just to make sure if it was the real deal or not. She was my doctor since I was 18 and I'm 28 now. It will be hard to find another doctor that I fully trust again especially if I decide to have another baby! Good luck with everything and your pregnancy. You will LOVE Nashville... I miss it very much!

Melissa, I would like to welcome you and your DH to the state and the Nashville area. Here is a website you might like to check out ... https://www.moveinandout.com/city_guide_for_moving_to_nashville_tennessee.aspx
You might also like to try some of the other websites available to you by simply using the search on your computer. Just type in "moving to nashville, tn" then visit any of those sites you wish. HTHI (we) do not live in Nashville but do go up there to shop on occasions. We live in Giles County on the state line with Alabama.
Good Luck on your forthcoming move.
Melissa,
I am using Women's Medical Associates of Nashville. It is downtown and located right next to a hospital. I've only been twice, but I liked the atmosphere and the staff. There are plenty of doctors to choose from and they have been really helpful to me. https://www.wmaofnashville.com/ is the link if you want to check it out.
My husband and I lived in Bellevue until we bought our home this past March. I go Dr. Annette Kyzer. She is fabulous and so is her team. They treat you like family and spend time with you at your appointments which was really important to me since I ask alot of questions. Her nurses would check in with me every Friday once I reached the last 2 months of my pregnancy. She will deliver babies at either Centennial Hospital or Baptist Hospital. I chose to have my daughter at Baptist and it was an amazing experience. I chose to induce at 39 weeks and Dr. Kyzer and I booked the day together. She's amazing!
Her office info: 300 20th Ave N # 302 Nashville, TN 37203-2179 (615) 340-4655.
Thank you for this!!! I've just switched my doctor to this group...after 2 terrible experiences with my previous doctor. I'm 14 wks and will have my first visit with this group at 16 wks. Thank you so much for posting this as I've been nervous about this whole thing.
And to OP, I can't tell you who to use as I'm going through changing at the moment. I can tell you this group was SUPER nice on the phone and very understanding when I called them losing my mind about my other doctor, lol. I can tell you DO NOT use Dr. Sam Moran, his bed side manner is equal to that you'd expect from a rock.
Good luck!
I also use Women's Medical Associates of Nashville and am very happy there.
(I was traveling to Alabama for my yearly GYN visits before pregnancy, so I can only speak of the OB care I've received at this practice.)
I see Dr. Mackey.
She has always taken the time to answer my questions.
My only complaint would be about the lady that collects the urine sample/weight/blood pressure for Dr. Mackey's patients.
She never seems in the mood for small talk which makes the time a little uncomfortable.
I guess if I collected & tested pee all day though I might not be in the best mood either.
That's so trivial though.
I'd highly recommend the practice.
I had been searching for the right OBGYN since moving to Nashville three years ago, and when I started going to WMA last year, I fell in love. All the doctors are women, the office is very nice and convenient to both Centennial and Baptist hospitals, and I've never had a problem with the staff or nurse. I've been seeing Dr. Driver and her nurse Melanie, who are both very happy to answer any questions I have.
I especially loved that during my first visit, I was taken directly to the doctor's private office for a one-on-one consultation before we proceeded to the annual exam. I've never had a doctor who did that! I was able to ask all the questions I wanted without feeling awkward or vulnerable like you typically do during those exams.
I finally found a place where I don't feel like "just another number" and more like a person they care about! All my life I've never found an OBGYN I feel this comfortable with.
I used a Vandy midwife, she was great. She was at 100 Oaks though
