This morning, my sweet mutt died. He didn't seem sick or anything (he was 10 years old), but when DH went to let the dogs out (we have another dog- Zena), Zack was lying in his crate. The weird part is, last night I dreamt that Zack kept trying to jump in the bed with me (our dogs never get in bed with us) and I kept pushing him out of the bed. Finally, I let him stay in the bed and just petted him, then he jumped out of the bed and wandered out of the room. Then, this morning, DH woke me up and he was crying. I felt like I already knew before he said anything because of the dream I'd just had. I can't explain it, and I know it sounds strange/creepy/weird, but I swear I just had that dream last night. In a way, I feel like Zack was saying goodbye. I'm worried about Zena now, because she just waits by the door, like she's wondering where Zack is. I'm sad, but DH is worse. I can't remember the name of it, but I read a poem on here that someone posted a while back about when a pet dies. Could someone give me the name of it? I'd like to share it with DH.

Re: My dog died.
I don't have any info on That particular poem, but I do want to say that I'm so sorry for your loss (hugs). It's so hard when our furry kids leave us.
I found this poem called Rainbow Bridge:
Just this side of Heaven is a wonderful place called
RAINBOW BRIDGE.When a beloved pet dies, it goes to wait for us at
RAINBOW BRIDGE.
There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine.
Our dear friends are warm and comfortable,
All the animals who have been ill and were old are restored to health and vigor,
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again just as we remember them in our dreams gone by.
Our beloved friends are happy and content......
except for one small thing....
They each miss someone special to them...
Someone who has been left behind.
They all run and play together until the day when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent,
suddenly he begins to run from the group,
flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted.
When you and your special friend meet you cling together
in joyous reunion,
NEVER to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face,
your hands caress the beloved head
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your dear pet,
so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.....
Then you cross RAINBOW BRIDGE and enter Heaven together.

My Blog

I am so, so sorry Richelle. Pets are such a joy in your life and to lose one so suddenly is heartbreaking.
My vet gave me a little card with the Rainbow Bridge poem, too. It still makes me cry and my beloved kitty died nearly a year ago now.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear pet. They really are such big parts of our families and our hearts. **Hugs**
I'm so sorry, Richelle. It's always hard to lose a beloved pet, but it is somewhat harder when it's unexpected.
I'm also glad he said goodbye to you... I truly believe that's what your dream was.

You and your family must be in so much pain but having gone through it I can tell you that there comes a point when you can look back without pain.
You have my sympathies for your loss.
