I had a c/s in Oct. Due to a fibroid my doc said that was just big enough that baby could not pass around it. I am a petite person and my son was 8lbs 11oz 20in and was sunny side up . My doc said with future pregnancies they will have to be c/s and that she didn't want me to labor again.... My labor was amazing I went from 3cm to 10cm with in 4hrs. I pushed for 4+ hrs.... When my doc decided for a c/s... I wanna have another baby soon but want to try for a vbac... The hospital I was at they don't do vbac's they say once a c/s always a c/s there.... I was wondering if anyone of yous had the same issue and had a vbac???? I live in wisconsin and I do believe the hospital that's 20-25 min away that I have to switch to due to hubbys insurance.... allows vbac's..... thanks ladies.....

Re: Anyone else had this happen ????
Are fibroids something that you will have with every pregnancy? If it's something that's not likely to happen again, you are most likely a candidate for a VBAC. If a VBAC is important to you, then it's definitely worth finding a hospital and provider who supports it.
My first son was 8lb 4oz, and sunny-side up also. I pushed for 4+ hours with him and I ended up with a c-section. My second son was 10lb 10oz, and was a successful VBAC - he was in the optimal position. Things like positioning won't necessarily happen with other pregnancies. Good luck!

ditto what previous poster said. if it was something that's either due to the babies position or condition, or something not likely to happen again, your chances of a VBAC are pretty good.
Where in Wisconsin are you? I know both Meriter and St. Marys in Madison "allow" VBACs.
Ah, yeah, I have no experience with them, but it's definitely worth asking a new provider about, I'm sure they can monitor you the next time for them, right?
My VBAC was unmedicated (planned that way), and I spent most of my time laboring at home. I pushed for two hours, but that's still in the range of normal pushing times for a first-time vaginal birth. My birth story is here: https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/44102612.aspx
I still have some numbness where my scar is, 3.5 years after my section, too.

I hope it's okay that I'm posting here as I'm not a vbac mama but I wanted to let you know that Aurora in Manitowoc DOES do vbacs. Try to get Dr. Garvin Cress. I used to see her- she's very nice. GL! Otherwise in Sheboygan the Aurora Memorial there does vbacs too and I believe so does Green Bay but I don't live in that area anymore so I'm not sure.

I live in the Milwaukee area, but have researched a lot of hospitals prior to choosing the hospital that I will deliver my next child at (hoping for a May, June or July 2012 baby) and found that the Aurora Hospitals in this area are very VBAC friendly... it is just a matter of finding a doctor that you are comfortable with.
I will say the doctor I am with now while most people on this board would say that I need to find another one, I am comfortable with, I want to VBAC with my next child but I also do not want to face a c-section that I will be put out for. More then having another c-section I am more terrified of having a general a c-section and missing the birth of my child again so I am comfortable with the fact that he has left it up to me, but because of my fears has encouraged me to look at another c-section.
However I will say that my second choice a very VBAC friendly doctor, who said without a doubt he would let me and encourage me to VBAC was also an Aurora doctor but was much farther of a drive for me and I was not comfortable with that.
did they remove the fibroid? if not, i can see this potentially being a problem. however, fibroids can move and where it was when you labored with #1 is not necessarily where it will be when you have #2.
you should fill your OB in on the ACOG guidelines, which were released more than a year ago, which suggest that most women should be given a TOL. then you should find a new practice! once a C always a C is completely outdated and is not based on sound, scientific evidence. great that you have already researched where else you can go.
i also wonder whether your labor stalled in part due to your baby being posterior (sunny side up), which is quite common, and not just because of the fibroid. in most cases, a woman's body does not produce a baby that is too large to come out vaginally. it's actually quite rare, despite what the medical community would have us believe. we are just often not given the opportunity to labor without medical interventions that change the circumstances and fight against nature rather than aiding it.
paying particular attention to your posture, walking and swimming are proactive things you can do during pregnancy to help avoid posterior presentation.
good luck with your search for a new provider! contact your local ICAN chapter (www.ican-online.com) for suggestions on vbac friendly OBs.
