Did pregnancy effect your eyesight?

I know it can happen, and I'm pretty sure that's what's going on with my eyes (feels like the prescription in my glasses isn't working), but I was just curious if any of you had any changes. Any other side-effects from pregnancy hanging out there?

Re: Did pregnancy effect your eyesight?

  • My  eyesight had no changes (still absolute crap), but I did develop  that 'mask of pregnancy' thing and have dark splothes/freckles around one eye that won't go away still- I hate it!

  • Yes!  During the end of my 2nd trimester, I started to notice that my left eye was a little blurry.  By the end of pregnancy, my left eye was definitely different and my right was slightly different.  It's not quite bad enough to need glasses, but it is enough that I get headaches if I spend too much time focusing on certain things.

  • I got blurry during the pregnancy but my vision has gone back to normal. Thank goodness. I just got new glasses last year so it will be a wait before insurance covers a change.

  • I didn't notice it so much while I was pregnant, or even right after, but since I've gone back to work I'm constantly going home with headaches. It's been a couple of years since my last optometry visit so insurance isn't an issue, it's just finding the time to go! Maternity leave ate up all my leave for the rest of the year, so I'll have to find a Saturday appointment.

  • Mine got a lot worse. They've gotten better, but not as good as before. It's definetly time for new/stronger glasses

  • Yes, my pregnancy with my DS made my eyesight worse! I got a new prescription when I was pg and I now have to wear my glasses almost constantly.
  • I also has to get new glasses and my vision got wayyy worse in both eyes. It got to the point where I didn't feel comfortable droving. =|

  • I didn't notice any vision changes but I'll be getting a check up this fall just in case.  The only lingering issue I have is joint pain.  My hips are finally better but now I am having knee pain on both sides every time I stand up.

  • Only WHILE I was pregnant. It was never a permanent thing for me with either kid. (I still don't wear glasses and never have)

Maybe you just need a new rx? Getting older? Wink
