Sleeping routine

Hi everyone,

LO is 10 weeks old and for the last few nights she been going to sleep at 9pm and waking up at 130am, this gives a good 4.5 hours of sleep but from there on she wakes every 2-3.5 hours. When she wakes up, I nurse her and she goes right back to sleep, but the whole process of changing her diaper and nursing takes up to 30 min.

I just went back to work this week and I am not as tired as you would think however next week I start taking classes and I fear I will be exhausted.

Any tips for LO to sleep longer stretches at night?

Re: Sleeping routine

  • We are on almost the same exact schedule - LO goes to sleep around 10:30 and sleeps until 3 - and then is up every 2.5-3 hours after that.  I went back to work this week and it was a little difficult in the am's - to get everything going.  I do not have any tips.. sorry!  I wish you luck... It will come with time!

  • I don't know if this has anything to do with anything but my LO sleeps in her nap nanny at night and she sleeps from 9pm - 6am. I am going to have to start weaning her off of it soon and I am terrified because she sleeps so well in it. She doesn't sleep well in her crib or pnp. She hates to be swaddled but loves to be surrounded and cuddled I guess you can say while she sleeps. Maybe I can try a wedge and somehow divide her pnp in half so it's not as open.

  • My LO was only waking up once through the night but I figured out that when I put her in foot sleepers and swaddled her with a muslin blanket that she STTN. I use to just put her in a onsie and swaddled. I don't know if that will help your LO or not, but it's worth a try if you are not already doing that.

  • Are you sure she's hungry each time? Isaac is getting closer to STTN, and when he wakes up I'll go in there and just pat him on the back and sometimes he drifts right back to sleep for several more hours.

This - I just realized that my LO was not hungry but trying to soothe herself.  A 5 minute soothing is much easier than a 45 minute feeding and diaper change.  GL
