VBAC

Uterine shape post c-section

I had an ultrasound this morning where my doctor pointed out that he could tell I had a c-section due to the shape of my uterus and he showed me a slight dip that he said was the scar on my uterus.  For some reason I didn't really think about that before today but I suppose it makes sense, if my abdomen is scarred so is my uterus.  Does anyone know if the slight change in the shape of your uterus, or the fact that there is even something visible from ultrasound, makes a VBAC more risky?

  • I have never heard of this, but to me it sonds like a normal thing that anyone with a scar would have and it shouldn't make your VBAC any more risky.

  • Where exactly is this dip? Is it at the top of your uterus? If so, that seems more like an anomaly (which I have) than something from a c/s scar.

Nope not at the top, and definitely attributable to the c-section since I conceived DD with an REs help and he's seen my uterus, and it's shape, a lot prior to pregnancy :) I'm sure my file has lots of photos of it in it's pre cut shape.  It was just weird, something else that happened as a result of the c-section that I just really never though about until seeing it.  Although I do wonder, since we're in the process now of infertility treatments for #2, what happens is a baby implants right on your c-section scar?
