Trouble TTC

Update on me - awesome story (quite long, but worth it)

So, I had my day 13 ultrasound early. Weird, I know. I think the nurse misundertood my OB when she said the next step was the ultrasound and went ahead and scheduled me yesterday with only a couple hours notice for me. This was despite the fact that I mentioned I already scheduled a day 13 ultrasound. It had been 3 weeks since my last appointment and I had still not received my blood results, so I went in. The sooner we get this going, the better!

The ultrasound as well as the bloodwork confirmed the PCOS as was expected. I am not insulin resistant, but I am still starting Metformin to treat the PCOS. I took my first pill last night. I have little to none Progesterone, which explained my weird reaction to the Prometrium according to my OB.

The plan: After I have taken Metformin for 4-6 weeks, I will induce my period with the Prometrium and go back in for another day 13 ultrasound to see if my ovaries show any action. If not, I will begin taking Clomid. I asked, and she will be monitoring me on Clomid, so that's good. I know many of you reccommend going to a RE, but I do have faith in my OB and since my insurance covers nothing, this will be the least expensive route I can take as of now. The most important thing is that she will be monitoring me.

The most amazing part of yesterday: This could not have come at a better time. A friend told me about a week ago that she was sending me something. She is also struggling with infertility and has had three miscarriages, so I assumed it had to do with infertility. Well, I received the box yesterday and when I opened it I pulled out a blanket. I searched through the box to see if there was a note or something explaining what the blanket was for. It was hand made, by the way. I found a card, opened it, and read it.

She explained to me that it was a baby blanket, but not for babies. It is for women who have either lost a child or are dealing with infertility and have not yet been able to get pregnant. It was given to her by a friend who received it from women at her church when she dealt with the loss of her son. That woman is now 21 weeks pregnant and felt that my friend needed it more than her. After I told my friend what was going on with me, she felt that I needed it more than her. This is a woman who has dealt with 3 miscarriages and she had the strength to let go of something so special so that I can be comforted.

I immediately started crying. To see somebody so strong and caring after dealing with something I could not imagine dealing with is inspiring. Every time I look at that blanket, I will see her strength and know that if she can make it through, than so can I. It was one of the nicest things anybody has ever done for me. I wish I could give every single woman dealing with infertility a blanket like this. I don't want this blanket to stop with me.
