At my appointment on Tuesday, my OB said that the procedures for the GTT/glucose tolerance test have changed.    Instead of a standard 1 hour test followed by a 3 hour test if you fail, there is now ONLY a 2 hour test.   If you fail it, you fail - no further testing.     and it is also a strict fasting test - requiring an 8 hour fast prior to the test (whereas with my 1 hour last time, I was just told not to eat donuts and drink OJ before coming, but otherwise, I could eat).
Is anyone else's office doing this?   Dr. made it sound like it was a pretty new thing...     On one hand, it is nice to know I will only have to do it once, no matter what.    On the other hand, I will have to get a babysitter, because there is no way DD will be able to handle 2.5 hours in the doctor's office.   Ugh.    Regardless, this was the first time I'd ever heard of this.
Re: New GTT procedures? Now only a 2 hour test?

ah yes, that rings a bell. He did say something about it being diagnostic - and that was the reason for the switch. thanks for jogging my memory! I know they will draw my blood at the start, after 1 hour, and then after 2 hours... But apparently that is all I remembered. :-)
