Baby Showers

Your fave passive shower game?

I only want to do passive shower games for my GF's shower since the guest list got out of hand- those issues are resolved as well as my menu/$ limitations. Anyway what is your favorite passive shower game? I've got guess the number of stuff in a big bottle already...

Re: Your fave passive shower game?

  • The Timer Game:

As the mom-to-be opens her gifts set the egg timer to go off within so many minutes (to be decided by you). When the timer goes off, whoever was the giver of the gift the mom happens to be opening at the time, is then the winner of a prize. She can be handed the prize or she can simply pluck one from a table of choices.

To make the game more than fair, the person watching the timer cannot be the one handing the gifts to the mom-to-be. And, at no time should the mom be able to see the timer. Also, if the timer goes off and the mom is between gifts the prize is given to the giver of the last gift she opened.

"If every word I said, could make you laugh - I'd talk forever".

I've got this one already too...brain fart. I need one 'bigger' one, like the guess the # of stuff game. I have 2 larger prizes and lots of little prizes for the timer game!

    Thanks for the input!

  • Are you already doing a diaper cake?  There was an idea before to have people guess the items that are hidden in the diaper cake.  I forget the full instructions but that sounds easy enough if you already have one made :)
  • Hmmmm I am but was plannig on using them as centerpieces...like lil mini cakes. I will see what I can think of!

    Thanks!

  • You could have MTB walk around with a tray filled with baby related items (maybe 20 or so) and then leave the room.  The guests are then asked to answers questions regarding the MTB.  They are usually concentrating on remembering what was on the tray that they don't pay much attention to what the MTB has on.  The questions are like, what color is MTB's shirt, pants, does she have shoes on, what color, jewelry - rings how many, earrings, how many, anything in her hair, make up, nail polish on fingers, toes, etc.  You can ask about 15 - 20 questions.
  • We did a cute game...everyone got a safety pin at the beginning of the shower. If you caught someone say the word "baby" you got their safety pin(s). Whoever had the most at the end of the shower won the prize.

  • I'm not sure what you mean by "passive."  I never do games where people have to really move around, but they do have to actively participate.  Some of the games I've done are:

The Mommy Purse - each guest gets points for items in her purse that would be found in a typical mom's purse.  The more unusual, the higher the points.  Highest points wins.  There are some printable lists online.  People seemed to really like this one.

    Crossword Puzzle - https://www.plan-the-perfect-baby-shower.com/baby-shower-crossword.html

    Word Jumble

Match the Celebrity with their baby photos or baby name

Complete the nursery rhyme (guests have to write down the next line of a nursery rhyme that you start to read)

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • At one of my showers there was only one game- baby gift bingo. Basically, fill in the bingo card with presents you think the MTB will receive (they get one blank as a freebie- their own gift.) The first person to get bingo gets a prize (at mine, the choice of two different gift cards.) It was fun because 1) people actually had to pay attention to the gift opening, 2) they actually had to care about what I received, and 3) it was competitive without being annoying or yucky or embarassing to the MTB- no forbidden words, no eating baby food, no guessing the mother's weight, etc. It went over really well!

     I like this idea!

  • Someone posted a good one recently where everyone gets a list of children's books where the titles have been changed and you have to figure out what the title really is.  For example, one was something like "The location of the termination of the pedestrian path."  The correct answer is "Where the Sidewalk Ends."  The OP said everyone at her shower loved it.
