Which of these classes, if any, are you taking?
My OB's office recommended an RN who teaches a Lamaze class for $500. Luckily, we found out that the firm I work for offers a Lamaze class for free!
I also would like to take an infant care, breastfeeding, and infant CPR class - and those are offered free through work as well, but they're going to be "sometime this fall" and I don't know if the timeline will work for me.
Anyone have any suggestions for classes in the NY area?

Re: Birth/Nursing/Infant Care Classes (NYers)?
We're taking the Lamaze class ($200) and breastfeeding class ($50) through our hospital-does yours offer them?
You could always take Rosie Pope's classes

Actually, those prices aren't that bad. I'm almost paying that much in the 'burbs.
We've got a Bradley birth class ($350), Breast Feeding class with a private lactation consultant ($200 - but that also includes a post partum visit to confirm things are working), and infant CPR $75. They all add up!
Before signing up for the Lamaze class, I'd look into what it covers and see if that's the type of birth you want to have. I know there's a lot of different thoughts about Bradley vs. Lamaze in the birthing method debate...It would stink if you spent all that money and it wasn't a "method" you were interested in.

DS-IUI #1-4 BFN IVF #1 - BFP! It's a boy!!!
really nice that your firm offers those classes for free!
since cornell doesn't offer any classes and rosie pope is so damn expensive, i am taking classes at a hospital out here in the 'burbs. much cheaper (my multiples class, which covered labor, a little childbirth and infant care cost about $160 and the BFing class i plan to take is i think $60) than anything i could find in the city.
my doctor's office didn't offer any suggestions for classes - my guess is since they know i am having twins, they're like, meh, she'll prolly have a c-secrion anyway (FWIW i'm trying for a vaginal).
Oh jeez-gotta love NYC hospitals! Maybe one of the other hospitals might have some more reasonable classes (NYU? Columbia?)? I doubt it, but maybe the Y has something? Or you could just try Googling 'NYC lamaze' and see what comes up?
