See, as someone who got what appears to be a false positive on the NT scan, I'm really glad we did it. As awful as the worry and the extra testing has been, I would choose this any day over being blindsided by a horrible defect at birth.
I took the test and got a positive result, I have to wait until the 23rd for my follow up Level 2 U/s and have been freaking out since I got the call. I also read ( after I took the test) that false positives happen so often, I am trying to stay positive. If it turns out we do have a birth defect then I'm glad we did it but if it turns out to be another false positive (please God) then I'm so not taking that test again.
My husband and I opted out of the quad screening. He was so adamant and had a long moral discussion with my OB about it last month that she marked it in my file and brought it up today to make sure no one even asked me about having it done.
I have declined all screens, including the NT scan. If something shows up on the anatomy scan, we'll look at an amnio then.

We didn't with DS and we're not with this LO, there is a very high false positive rate and I just think it gives you one more thing to worry about when you shouldn't have to. For us it wouldn't change the outcome and if there is anything majorly wrong with LO it will show up on the a/s.

My mom got very upset with me for not finding out bc she says the Dr will be unprepared in the delivery room if something is wrong, I understand her point but DH and I decided that would put unwanted stress on us. We are very excited about this baby and I don't want anything to upset me.

This for us, too.
We had the NT scan done w/ DS and had a great experience, but for whatever reason, just decided against all of it w/ this one. Our a/s is coming up soon enough, so we'll go from there if need be.
We're not doing any other screens or tests beyond the normal ultrasounds. Personally, I've heard of way too many people getting false positives and spending the rest of their pregnancy upset. I want to enjoy the time I'm pregnant and don't want to spend it worrying.
I think it's important to look into what the screening gives you information about. I opted in because I wanted to be fully prepared if anything needed to be done at delivery.
I remember hearing years back that they've actually done in utero surgery on children with spina bifida. I don't know if this has become a common practice, but if it is possible, earlier intervention may lead to much better life experiences for your child. The screening I did included spina bifida, and that's something I told my husband when we were discussing whether or not to opt in. Thankfully, I was considered low risk, but even if I had had to worry needlessly... I guess I just assume needless worry is part of parenthood
We originally opted out. Then a cyst was found on LO's brain during the a/s (but we are team green) last week. We won't do an amnio due to risks associated with it, and won't terminate if something isn't ideal. But we did have the quad screen done last weekend (normal results) and have an appointment with the maternal and fetal medicine folks on Monday afternoon for an in-depth ultrasound. We are hoping things are fine, but when you doctor mentions trisomy 18 as a possibility, you kind of want to be prepared and know all you can - at least we do

This
This is exactly how I feel. It would just hurt me and the baby in the long run. I did the NT scan, which came back great, and I think that's enough.
Glad to hear I'm not alone!

We opted out.
I didn't want to take the chance of having a false positive and regardless of any test results, the only choice we'd ever make is to have this baby ?
