beta levels "low." More blood work tomorrow

Hi Ladies,

A nurse from my doctor's office just called to say my beta levels were "very low" and I need to come back tomorrow for more blood work. I am 5 weeks 0 days TODAY and my beta levels were 1213.5 when I was tested on Tuesday (4 weeks 5 days). She wasn't very nice and, honestly, now I'm all worked up. A coworker who went through IVF said my levels are fine and was getting all upset about the way the nurse spoke to me.

What are your thoughts? Do I have any cause for concern or was this nurse just mistaken? What levels are appropriate for 4 weeks 5 days?

Thank you this this. My levels are exactly where they should be for being 21DPO. I'm going to let this nurse have it tomorrow! Why on earth would she say something like that to someone to early in their pregnancy? Obviously I'm going to get very upset.

    Thanks, Salt. You rock!

UGH. Yeah for 21DPO your levels sure are super duper low. Hmm

I'm sorry she freaked you out. I hope this all gets resolved for you! This is one of the reasons I'm so glad that I didn't get my levels done in the beginning...another thing to worry (perhaps unnecessarily) about.

  • I had a very similar situation happen to me with my first. The nurse (not mine) that called was so rude and just rambled off a number, at the time I had no idea what it was, and said I needed more bloodwork. She would not answer me when I asked if it was concerning or not. I ended up calling my nurse so she could look it all up for me.

Sorry you had a bad experience and hope you get it all worked out. Sounds like everything is where it should be! GL!

  • you're levels look excellent! congrats momma!
  • I honestly would file a grievance against her at that clinic or hospital. I say that because she's not allowed to be rude to you like that and also giving you a false reason to worry. I would file a grievance and be sure to tell my doctor. I'm a nursing student and to treat anyone rudely is not okay! I would never do it and I expect the same from any nurse towards anyone! Unless it's your family...that's different haha
