Your honest thoughts on this name....

For a girl - Florentina.

Is it too long?

Do you know anyone named this or have you ever heard of it?

Cute pet names?

TIA!!!

Re: Your honest thoughts on this name....

  • I think Florentina is very pretty...its not too long my daughters name is Vincenza and I am naming this little girl Adellina..its whatever you like.

You can call her Flora for short or Tina or just call her Florentina.

I call my daughter Vincenz or even cenz sometimes...

I think its a beautiful nameSmile

  • I actually really like it-it's feminine and I haven't heard it used much. It makes me think of a 18th-century Italian lady-in-waiting:)
  • I think "Chicken Florentine" - Wink but it is still SUPER CUTE!

  • I immediately thought of spinach- Eggs Florentine. Sorry. Sad
  • I like it and I don't think it's too long - it does lend itself to several nicknames if length becomes an issue.

  • I like it. I know a Florencia (lives in Costa Rica) who goes by Flo. I'm not crazy about the nickname Flo though.

Ditto, I thought 17th/18th century Italy as well. Very femenine, and 'nice' unique, not 'wacky' unique (meaning, not a 15 letter name with three apostrophes and only one consonant, lol). I like it quite a bit.

This :) If this LO had been a girl would have been Annalise.

  • My first thought was it reminds me of food-chicken florentine, etc. However, the more I say it, the more I like it.

  • I thought of food too.  My first reaction was "no way," but like pp said the more I think about it the more it grows on me.  I think the nn Flo though would be a bummer.  I work with a Flo/Florence and she's a psycho, so that has a bad association with it for me, but this is your baby so you get to do what you like.  :)
  • I have no idea of the origin, but I think of Florence, Italywhich is a gorgeous Italian city.   In Italy, the city of Florence is actually spelled Firenze.  Go for it!

  • NMS, but it's pretty. I don't think it's too long, and I don't know anyone with the name. Nicknames: Tina, Renn, Flo...that's about all I can think of.
  • Makes me think of food, more specifically pasta. But it is feminie and pretty, and you could use Flora for a nickname (i believe that mean flowers, but im not 100% sure)

  • It only makes me think of a "fiorentina", which is a high type of steak in Italy. Would not name my baby like that.

  • I don't like it.  I'm sorry.

I don't mind "Flora", but "Florentina" isn't my favorite.  Not even 100% sure why.  I don't think it's the length that bothers me.  I guess I just think it sounds kinda' strange.
