Re: **Whine Wednesday**

  • I am really really really dreading our flight to FL in the morning. We take off at 6am, have a layover in Baltimore, then another flight into FL.  DD is in the run everywhere and get into everything stage, so I am not very hopeful for successful flights.  I'm hoping the new toys and books I bought tonight will help.

  • Both kids are teething. B was up at 3:30am whining/talking. I tried everything to get him back to sleep but he was wide awake. He ended up waking up his sister by 4:00am. I didn't get back to bed until almost 5:00- how did I do this every night a few months ago?!? I'm soooo exhausted.

  • Well I just wrote out a big huge loooong whine about my evening last night.  But as I wrote I just got more and more annoyed.  Soooo I deleted the whole thing except for the good part of the night - a new recipe I made that we all really liked.

  • My son's asthma is kicking our butts over here.  He is on neb treatments in the am and pm with 2 meds in (so figure 20 minutes).  He cries, sobs, hits, etc. just to put the darn mask on (takes 10+ minutes just to get him to do that much).  I know there are tougher things out there, but between the asthma and allergies, my heart just breaks for him sometimes.

  • Aside from all of the other stuff that happened today... my biggest whine is my boss.  I had to ask her permission to leave for my appointment today.  I really didn't want to go in to detail with her,  I didn't plan on telling any of my coworkers until we heard the HB... so knowing that I was having problems made me want to talk about it even less.  I never ever EVER take sick leave and have about 2 doctors appointments a year, so she should know that if I am asking for time off (especially on short notice), something is wrong.  When I told her I needed to step out for about an hour for an appointment, she decides to play 50 questions.  "Is it for Lucy (my puppy)" no.  "Is it for you?" yes.  "are you pregnant" i was.

Then, when I am on the verge of tears (and not an emotional person at work. ever.) she finds it appropriate to launch into a 20 minute monologue about when she was trying to get pregnant and how excited she was and then her grandkids and her sisters kids... and a few other random pointless topics, but I was kind of spaced out.  I finally interrupted her and explained that I thought I had miscarried and needed to go see my OB.  I also told her that nobody at work knew and I would prefer to keep it that way.  Then just left permission or not.  I couldn't listen to her yap another second.  She just doesn't get people.  When someone is having a really difficult time with something... probably not the best time to ramble on incessantly about yoour own life.

Worst part is, I know she has a huge mouth and by the time I get to my desk tomorrow, it's going to be the latest and greatest hospital gossip.  ::head desk::

Have you tried using a pediatric neb?  My nephew had a train one that looked kind of like this:

They had an awful time getting him to sit until they switched.  A medical supply pharmacy should be able to bill your insurance for one, it may be worth it.  I think they used the combo of the train nebulizer machine and watching a special Thomas DVD during treatments to get him thru.  Good luck.

I have never seen one like that!  Thanks for sharing!  You never know what will make the difference.  Appreciate it....

  • I wish strangers wouldn't talk to Tyler!  I know they usually mean well, but it is very disstressful for him sometimes!  Yesterday a lady at the museum ran over to him frantically and repeatedly told him not to touch some unattended K'Nex because someone was making a car with them.  He freaked and got so upset, screeching and crying uncontrolably.  Everyone stopped what they were doing to see what happened, staff members came running!  The lady felt so bad, she reached out to touch him and say sorry, but this just made it worse.  I know she felt bad and had no way of knowing he has autism.  So we had to find a quiet place to collect ourselves and we did some yoga, then we were able to return.  And it wasn't like he was alone, my MIL was standing right with him, we NEVER let Tyler out of arms reach in public.  I feel like I should put a sign on his shirt that reads, "Please don't talk to me.  I have Autism and often misunderstand strangers' words"
