BF & Pain Meds (wisdom teeth extraction mentioned)

Anyone have any experience taking pain meds (something other than tylenol, ibuprofen, etc), while nursing?  I have to get my wisdom teeth out on Monday and the oral surgeon said that he'd give me motrin 800 because I'm still BF DD2.  While I have a decent pain tolerance, I'm nervous about only going home with ibuprofen (probably because of all of the widsom teeth horror stories).  I've looked at Kellymom and they have a chart that has tylenol with codeine, as well as, vicodin as L3 drugs (moderately safe while BF), so I'm thinking about asking for small Rx for one of those...

I'm a pathetic pumper, so I don't have much of a freezer stash.  Just wondering if anyone else has taken pain meds, while nursing and your LO being fine.

    They gave me Motrin and Percocet after my c/s. GL wisdom teeth suck.

    I believe I had the 50/50's. I think they were half hydro and half Ibuprofen. It didn't seem to affect my supply and DS was fine.

    I took vicodin (which is tyelon with codeine according to my pharmacist) while bfing once on the day I came home with em and again when I was having gallbladder issues. We had no problems.

    I alternated ibuprofen 800mg with tylenol 1000mg when I got my wisdom teeth out.  Mostly because vicodin made me puke right into my fresh tooth craters.  Ick!

    Vicodin is actually Tylenol + hydrocodone, which is similar to codeine. Vicodin and Percocet are both fine with breastfeeding and are routinely prescribed post-partum to breastfeeding women. No need to suffer. Good luck!
    2 years TTC with 5 losses, 1 year recovering, 6 months applying for adoption approval, and almost a year waiting for a placement. Then, a miracle BFP at age 36!

    This, although I wanted to add that I've had 3 wisdom teeth out and never ever had problems.  I didn't need anything after the top two and the bottom one, which was impacted, I was on vicodin for a day and then ibu 800s after that.  Not everyone has horrible wisdom tooth extractions!!  Take care of yourself, follow all post-op instructions, and don't deny yourself pain meds just because you're bfing!
