Best nursing cover/sling/wrap?

What are your thoughts on the best nursing cover? I don't have one yet but want to get one so that i can NIP and get out of the house a bit! thanks!

Re: Best nursing cover/sling/wrap?

  • 99% of the time I just use a receiving blanket. I have an actual cover, but I rarely want to drag it all over town with me.

If you want a carrier / cover, I'd get a good quality ring sling. They offer good coverage for nursing and are pretty comfy for doing a bit of shopping. Not great for hours and hours of wear, but probably up to an hour comfortably.

  • I have a bebe au lait cover that is quite small when packed up and covers a lot, but still has the wire thing so you can see LO. I like it better than using a blanket because it stays in place. You also can get a fabric piece with clips on both ends to turn any blanket into a cover (like the things they use at the dentist to keep that napkin in place, only it's cute).

  • I just ordered a cover from https://www.uddercovers.com/cart and used the cupon code FAMILY2011 and only had to pay the shipping cost.  I really like this cover because it stays in place since it goes around the neck and it is long so it really covers everything.  During my last pregnancy/breastfeeding I had a cover that was too short and I ended up not using it later on, because after LO got bigger it didn't hide much.

Also, for a sling, I just ordered from https://www.sevenslings.com/index.php/cart and used the same cupon code FAMILY2011 and again ended up only having to pay shipping.  I have used it with my 11month old and love it so much.  He really likes it too.  It can be used for infants as well.  There are several ways to carry your child.  I didn't have a sling before but it has really come in handy for the past couple of weeks.

     Hope this information helps.

  • Make sure to measure yourself carefully for the seven sling. I have one, and it's okay but not my favorite. Mine does fit okay, but it's hard to get a great fit with a non-adjustable sling.

  • I also have a bebe au lait and I love it. I've tried just using a receiving blanket, but baby ends up ripping it off, and I have a hard time seeing to check the latch and whatnot.
