Worried and exhausted
(I made a similar post on the January check-in today, so feel free to skip)
After
finding echogenic foci in LO's heart last week, they did a rush on my
triple screen blood work and my AFP results came back sky-high (seriously. The docs have all said that they've never seen a level that high. Argh). I saw
the perinatologist yesterday (my OB got me in for an emergency appt) and he said that baby boy is looking good;
no apparent neural tube defects and growing right on schedule. So I'm having the
AFP draw re-done to determine if it was just a fluke, or something that
will require further testing (a more subtle problem with LO, a placental issue or possibly a tumor somewhere in me or something
weird with my liver).
They did determine that my cervix is a bit unstable, and even though it is still nice and long, and closed on the exit side, the uterine side is fluctuating and staring to open some. I'll see the peri again next week and hopefully things will have calmed down some by then.
I am seriously exhausted from worry and
driving around to what seems like every hospital in Atlanta. Any T&Ps you ladies could spare would be much appreciated because I am a frigging wreck.
