Hey ladies! I was diagnosed last week w/ GD & my question is do you think it is possible for your body to only process that drink horribly & most everything else normally?
The reason I asked this is b/c all of my numbers have been great. Over the weekend, w/ permission from my dr, I had shower food & a cupcake & my 2 hour # was 114. I have been throwing different things in the mix to see if it goes up & it took me eating 2 slices of pan pizza last night & it was 126 which is the highest it's been.
TIA!!

Re: GD Question
I would try testing at 1 hour after eating. You might be spiking and then dropping... My 2 hour numbers are always fine, but my 1 hour number is what we're worried about. I've test and gotten 170 at one hour and then retested at 2 hours and it was 116. If I'd just tested at 2 hours, I never would have known about the 1 hour spike.
Good luck!
Was that 126 after 2 hours? That would have been a circled "high" number for me. Plus the further along you get, things could change, just a heads up.
ETA: I was able to eat pizza and bread, but rice did me in. That could make a difference too since different foods can be triggers for different people. I only ended up with two high numbers the whole time and that was after Xmas Day dinner and NYE dinner, go figure!
Yes it was after 2 hours. I think I am going to do like pp suggested & test at 1 hour just to see what it says.
Thank you both for your responses!

I know how you feel... after going through the education class I revamped my diet to follow all the 'rules' and even when I would cheat and have extra or a little bit of a treat my one hour number never rose beyond my given threshold.
I just went to my first GD follow up and the dietician instructed me to eat even more carbs... I had lentils chips and a whole Jimmy John's sub for lunch that day and didn't go over 120 an hour after.
I can't help but feel the same way your described.
I do have to admit that the good thing about the GD diet is that I'm without a doubt focused on getting more protein into my diet which I know is great for the kiddo.
