Hi Ladies,
I am mostly a lurker, but wanted ya'lls opinion on a name. We won't decide on a name until our baby girl is born and DH wants to keep the names we have a secret! So far on the list we have:
Riley Kendall
Aubrey Kendall
DH has just brought the name Marley Rae to the table and while I think it is super cute I am nervous to name her this for some reason! Most people think of a dog's name when they hear this name, right? Honest opinions appreciated! Thanks
Re: Marley = dog or cute girl name?
After the movie, I think it's natural that someone is going to think about the dog Marley. I love the name though.
I've already heard the dog comments about mine and DH's choice for our DD, Sadie Lou. The first time I was a little hormonal about it, but now it doesn't bother me. It's not like someone has never named a pet Josh or Emma before...
Definitely NMS...at all. And I think of it as a dead singer's last name.
I think you need to think about how your name selection will age as LO gets older, enters school, enters the workforce, etc? Granted, it may be a bit easier for a girl to get away with a cutesy name but it's something to consider nonetheless
I also think of Bob Marley or Jacob Marley. My cousin named his daughter this and those were the comments he got most frequently.
That being said, she is a very cute little girl and the name suits her well.
Burned by the Bear
This. Unfortunately.
Woof woof.
Besides, "cute" isn't a good thing as far as an adjective to describe your child's name. Your child WILL grow up into an adult professional someday. Don't make her go throughout life with a cutesy kiddish name that just screams of the decade she was born in!
Aubrey is THE BEST name you have up there. I prefer Audrey (Audrey Hepburn), but Aubrey is a nice name. It will grow with her so much better than Marley (woof) or Riley (she won't always be four).

DH's cousin had a baby girl and named her Marli. I think its cute and fits her.
So weird but almost this exactly. It always makes me think of Jacob Marley. And my cousin's cousin is a little girl named Marley.
My 2 y.o, goddaughter is Marley Rae!
I love it.
IMO, definately not a girl name. It would definately think that a person named Marley would be a boy.
