Boy diaper changes are way harder

When DD was a newborn changes were pretty straightforward.  Wipe down.  If she peed it just dribbled on the pad underneath.

Changing a little boy is so much harder!  Every change is like a game of poop hide and seek.  And then on top of it all there's the water cannon that I constantly need to keep covered lest pee spray all over everyone in the room.

Re: Boy diaper changes are way harder

  • I'm having a boy and have heard of the water cannon - not sure if I'm looking forward to experiencing this for myself but have heard some pretty funny stories :)

  • It's so true!!! Poop hides EVERYWHERE!!! DH and I have both been hosed down already. It's really funny. It's like a mini hose! I feel your pain.

  • We may not be getting peed on this time around, but we've had a much harder time with DD.  She's peed or pooped in the middle of changes much more than DS ever did!
  • Everyone's been telling me girls are harder because of all the little crevices.  I honestly have not changed more than like 2 diapers in my life so I won't know the difference!

  • There are 9 years between my little brother and I. And he is the second oldest od the 3 male cousins so I have had tons of practice with the cannon. I got very good at the peep and peek so the cold air hits and he pees just before the diaper comes down. Hehe GL to all you moms with boys. It gets better:)

  • I think all the folds and creases little girls have are way harder than the boy parts, especially when they are swollen in the beginning.

  • Haha... I'm glad it isn't just me. I was thinking that my little guy had it in for me :)

  • LOL. Amen to that. This is my first LO but I have two nieces that I babysat regularly and their diapers were a LOT easier to change. I find getting my son clean is...and I like how you put it, a game of poop hide and seek...and you're in a race against time to get him clean and changed before the fountain goes off. I've had good luck with it so far, but poor DH has dealt with the fountain many, many times already.

  • I have to agree with you.

I thought girls would be more difficult, but seeing how I can just wipe her down and be done compared to the way DS used to pee all over himself (once he even peed in his own face!) and you have to get around their boy parts, girls are MUCH easier!

  • haha, and I was afraid girls would be harder!

It helps to put a wipe or washcloth as a shield while you wipe them down to avoid the pee spraying everywhere.
