Moby and Ring Sling Questions

Can you actually wrap your moby around your waste 2 times before tying it in a knot? I'm a little overweight but I have a pretty slim waste w/ an actual hourglass shape to it and when I try to put on the moby, I can barely get it tied when I wrap it around me twice. Am I not putting it on tight enough when I cross over my shoulders? I don't think it's very lose but I suppose I could get it a little tighter. And, do you have any tricks to keep it from dragging the ground while you're putting it on? I've yet to get excited about this contraption...

And then the ring sling - have you washed yours before? Did you unthread the fabric? If not, did you have to re-thread it once it came out? We love our slings but they need washed!

Re: Moby and Ring Sling Questions

  • I don't know about the moby, but I have washed my ring sling and I actually left it threaded because I washed it with other things and didn't want it to wrap around everything else in the wash... I hate that. Otherwise, I would have probably unthreaded it.

  • I don't tie mine around twice, and I'm pretty thin.  I put it on as tight as need to so that LO is very snug to my body and her head is resting just below my collarbone.  No tricks for dragging it on the ground, I just let it when I'm at home.  I have a love/hate relationship with the Moby and the SleepyWrap.  My LO will not nap unless she's in one of these or laying with her lips on my boob (just wants to know it's close by:) ), and since I'd like to get up from the rocking chair during the day, I put her in the sling.  But there's a learning curve with the wrap and I've been cussing at the thing many times.  I find the SleepyWrap is super fast to put on when she's upset, but it's too stretchy for going out for walks, I just use it around the house.
  •  I adore my Maya RS. I have washed it and with most fabrics it's recommended to break them in,
  • JayElle and April .... when you washed your sling w/o unthreading it, did it mess up the threading and make it harder to adjust?

  • LO loves the Moby but I only wear it around the house because it does drag on the floor during wrapping. LO only likes the kangaroo hold because he likes to have his legs out, once I figured this out he really liked it. We have a sling too but I havent found a position he likes much yet :( I was hoping this would be a good option when out and about.

  • I am a size 10/12, and I don't wrap my moby twice. Once I cross in front i wrap it around my back and then bring it around front and tie. I just let out drag the ground too, haven't figured a better way. The part on the ground doesn't touch her so I just don't worry about it.
