Am I the only one who doesn't love the movements?

I remember loving it with ds.  This child, I feel literally beats me up from the inside.  All day and night I feel this baby move.  It's made me pee myself, it keeps me up at night, the kicks to my ribs are terrible.  I feel bad feeling like this, but I'm not a fan of the movements this time around.

  • I'm not at the 'get beat up' stage yet, so right now it's not so bad Smile

There are times though that I almost lose my breath from a hard kick, haha.

  • Yeah, I mean, I do really, really love them lol so I can't agree with you, but they aren't making me uncomfortable in any way so who knows how I'll feel during the later stages. I don't think there's anything wrong with you feeling that way though if they are really making you that uncomfortable.

  • MOst days I like it although last night was super uncomfortable. He had his head on the right side of my tummy and his feet going straight to the left and he just started to push. He sat there like this for well over a minute and it actually kind of hurt. I was having a hard time getting a good breath.

  • Yesterday was the very first day I had something more than flutters down near my pelvic bone. I don't know if my anterior placenta moved, or this little girl was just particular energetic yesterday, but she definitely made sure I knew she was there. I think it took me a couple hours of tossing and turning last night to realize that the reason I couldn't sleep was because all the kicking inside kept waking me up. It was incredibly frustrating, and incredibly wonderful (since it was the very first time that's happened). I can forsee this pattern getting old very quickly though. I'm all for feeling the baby; as a FTM it's reassuring. Lack of sleep however leaves me very grumpy and often times even results in cold/flu symptoms.

  • I think it wouldn't be quite so bad if it wasn't keeping me awake most of the night.  It's already difficult enough to get comfortable since I'm used to being a stomach sleeper and that's no longer possible.  Me+lack of sleep=grumpy

Yea lack of sleep from the movements keeping me up is definitely making me grumpy as well.

  • Depends. I love it all the time except when I'm meeting with clients. I find I get distracted. I do love feeling him move though, it lets me know everything is all right in there.

  • In general, I love feeling her movements. BUT, I definitely know what you mean when you say "getting beat up". Baby girl stays right under my ribs and all night long she kicks and rolls, and kicks and rolls. A good night's sleep hasn't happened in weeks, so in that regard, I don't enjoy those moments. Overall though, it's one of the greatest feelings to me; I could spend the rest of my life feeling these movements!

  • Sometimes, it makes me super nauseous.  I HATE being nauseous!  Other than that, I'm fine with it.

I thought I was the only one!!

  • For the first week I did not enjoy the movements.  I have been so sick, I kept thinking I was going to be sick or go to the bathroom.  It made it hard to concentrate. It just felt so foreign. I told my husband it was just weird to have something moving around and I just didn't get it.  This is my 1st and I thought I was the only one and crazy for thinking that.

But now I am really enjoying it. If I don't feel her then I get worried. I still have a hard time believing I am going to be a mom. It's just taking time for the reality to sink in. I just can't wait to meet her.

  • Eh, I see where you are coming from even if I don't fully agree myself.  I don't think there's anything wrong with it.  This is my first pregnancy so it's all new and exciting for me, but I will admit as I'm getting further along, the kicks are getting stronger and more frequent and it's a weird feeling to feel your stomach just jiggling around without your control.  But for the most part, I really love the movements.  It makes me feel more connected to this child, not to mention gives me peace of mind everything is still going okay in there.

  • Yeah, I can see what you all mean that it lets you know everything is ok.  Since I've already had one totally normal pregnancy, and this one is so routine my ob has called me boring because there is literally nothing new to talk about at my appointments, I guess don't really worry about things being ok.

Regardless, I can't wait to meet this baby and find out once and for all if we will have another son or a daughter!

  • I appreciate the movements all the time right now, since they're so new, but it does hurt when LO pushes!!  I had to get through an entire grocery trip with LO pushing very hard toward the outside next to my belly button.  Ouch!

  • I am not uncomfortable from it, and it is kind of interesting and cool since it is my first kid (and reassures me that he is ok in there) but every time I read a post about someone crying as they feel the kicks, I wonder why I am not so moved by the experience.

  • lol, It can definitly be uncomfortable at times and its a strange feeling for sure. I enjoy it sometimes when its quite and im lying in bed. I feel a connection to her and it makes me smile. When im busy and trying to work It can be bothersome lol. She is now moving everyday about 5-6 different times of the day, i can tell for sure when she is sleeping and awake. its cool!

  • Peanut seems to always want to be on the same side that I'm trying to sleep on (gravity maybe?)  Other than that, I kind of enjoy the movements.  I'd probably like them less, though if he was making me as uncomfortable as you are.  DH was able to see him respond to me last night and was rather amused.  I'd gently press on my stomach and he's respond with a good kick/elbow/knee.
