Veteran Moms - what did your pregnancy do to your boobs?

I haven't upgraded my bra size yet, but I now firmly fit into my bras like never before (my boobs have gotten a lot bigger, in a nutshell)... and i know they're going to keep getting bigger! What did your boobs do after your first pregnancy? How long does it take for them to go back to normal (or a smaller size than before)???

What should I be prepared for, in a nutshell?

I was never flat before, but was smaller, and I can tell the DH is enjoying them right now - so it's real weird knowing they're temporary, and that I won't even ever get my old ones back in perfect shape at the same time. What a tease Mother Nature is!

Re: Veteran Moms - what did your pregnancy do to your boobs?

  • I went from a small firm B to a droopy D. They stayed a C for a year and a half (even at my prepregnancy weight) due to breastfeeding, when DS breastfed less from then on they went back to a B. They never went back to where they used to be... DH says they aren't that bad but I feel like such an old (saggy) lady without a bra on now! But if that's my only complaint, I've got bigger things to worry about ;)

  • I'm almost 20 weeks and mine haven't grown at all!  i'm kind of upset cause I've always been small lol and was looking forward to being bigger.  They have gotten firmer and higher but still!

  • Went from a small b to a very full D.

Super saggy now from 14 months of breastfeeding. Even after a 60 pound weight loss (i only gained 32 i n pregnancy) they remained a C cup.

My Signature won't work! I am a proud mommy of two (1&3) and starting an adventure to help a family having a baby through surrogacy. ***My Surrogacy Blog*** http://www.themandyloo.blogspot.com
  • I was an A cup before and I grew to a B while pregnant and through the time I was breastfeeding. I went back to an A but my bras never fit right anymore. i am actuallys maller than I was before DS1 and this is my third. Hopefully I won't get any smaller (poor hubby).

  • I went from a C to DD during pregnancy with DS, afterwards I went back down to a D and I have good family genes because they aren't saggy or "soft" at all, still firm. However with this pregnancy they haven't grown (yet) and I can already tell they will be different afterwards this time around! For the most part expect them to never ever be the same, along with your stomach!

I've heard how our breast look is all due to changes while pregnant, and the hormones. They say breastfeeding doesn't effect their appearance/sag. I'd tend to agree as mine were pretty saggy as Ds (as soon as I gave birth) and slowly crept back to a somewhat normal place. (2 years of BFing)

  • This is #3 for me. So far it has always been the same. I start at 34C and during the pg, I go up to 34D and then once I am finally done nursing, I go back to 34C...just saggier

  • I got bigger during the 3rd trimester; I moved from a C to a D.  However, they went back to my pre-pregnancy size and look (not any more droopy).  I tried to breast feed, but it never worked out so it was not because of breastfeeding.  I also always wore a bra even to bed (a comfortable cami like bra) to try and avoid them drooping post pregnancy and it seemed to work.

  • With my first pregnancy, my boobs grew about a cup size. From C to a full D and then once milk came in they were even bigger. They were very sore, I did not breastfeed, and it took about a week and a half - maybe 2 for the milk to dry up and size started to go back down to about a C. They were just sagging at that point.
  • Pre-pregnancy mine were a nice and perky D (I'd had a boob job), and they started growing in the third tri. The 9 months I breastfed they were huge, but after weaning they went back to their regular size. They were droopier, but that's kind of what I expected.

  • Pregnancy left my very perky D's more like saggy C's. They better not shrink again this time!

  • My boobs didn't make any dramatic changes till closer to the end of my pregnancy. I've been smaller chested my whole life. I never changed my bra size till my DD was born and I was breastfeeding, at which point I went to a C from a small B. As long as I was breastfeeding they stayed big and firm, I loved it haha. After I stopped, it took about a month for them to go back to their normal boring selves... They aren't saggy or anything, probably becuase they are small...  they leaked for a few months more than that, but it was just random little tiny bits that would come out. My SIL was VERY small to begin with (almost an a) and she lost all her boobs that she had before and ended up getting implants a year after her last baby...

  • Mine didn't change at all but I have a boob job.  They got a lot bigger during pg and then stayed even bigger after because I BF for a year.  After we weaned, they looked just the same.  Again, probably because they were already enhanced.

  • I don't even know.  I have been either pregnant and/or nursing for all but one 11 month stretch since December 2004.  All I know is that my boobs have fluctuated anywhere from a C cup when I got pregnant in 2004 to an H when I was BF my second.  Right now they are about to be too big for my DD bra.  Tongue Tied

  • lol I wish I could tell you that the beautiful girls you get during pregnancy are guaranteed to stay but unfortunately that was not the case for me!!  I was a full C with my first pregnancy and when I delivered I was a full D.  I did lose some weight the year after I had DS so I was down to a droopy B after breastfeeding and weight loss. Boo!  I hated my boobs.  Of course, I'm pregnant now and they are huge already. I went from my droopy B to a full C already.  My guess is that they won't stay this time either.  =(  I do enjoy them.. although they're kind of sore right now.

  • Mine went from D to DD and then back, just not as perky. Not bad, really. I don't know what #2 will do! And to reiterate what someone else said, it's pregnancy tha affects your boobs, not BF'ing.
Also, I did get my stomach back to it's pre pregnancy state, which pleasantly surprised me, so don't despair, it is possible! Again, I don't know what #2 will do...

  • I went from a 36 C to 38 DD's, back down to 38 D's with my first pregnancy.  This happened within the first five months of pregnancy.  This time around, I'm back to DD's but it looks like it's not going up from here.  The other thing was that my ribs definitely expanded during my first pregnancy and they never went back to the way they were.

  • I went from a small B to a full B while pregnant with my first child and after breastfeeding I went to an A!!! Now that I am pregnant again I am back to B but I know it wont last long! I just hope they dont get any smaller then after the last time!! I will be flat as a board!!!
  • I hate to say it, but I'm the same as most pp--nice, full C before pg #1, then down to a fullish B and floppy after bfing.  I wish we could keep our pregnant boobs :)

  • I was an A, almost B during my first pregnancy. My boobs NEVER got bigger during pregnancy, and they went up about 1/2 a cup size (pushing me into a B) while nursing and have since stayed there.

They haven't grown any bigger this pregnancy either (so still a B), and I'm not expecting them to go crazy when my milk comes in again.

  • I went from a C to a full size DDD. I breastfed/pumped for less than six months. But after I started losing some of my weight and my breasts went down from breastfeeding, they had went down to a DD and then finally down to a D.  Needless to say with this pregnancy Ive had to go back up to a DD to fit comfortably.

  • Mine went from a DD to an H, then a J. They stayed J for about a year and were just getting back into H's when DD#2 showed up.
  • Mine really didn't change with my first pregnancy.  After birth I went from an average B to a D.  As I continued nursing they went to a C and then when I weaned they went back to B's.

  • I went from a 34DD pre-pregnancy to a 34G during pregnancy and breastfeeding. I went back to down a 34DD, but I lost a little volume. They just sit a little differently; I can only imagine what the damage will look like after this pregnancy!

  • Normal??  Honey, there is no normal after pregnancy/BFing.  I think a lot of what happens to your girls will be genetic.  So, ask your mom & check with your sisters.  What happened to them will probably happen to you.  Me, I went up a full cup size by the time I delivered & was BFing.  After my body was done BFing, I lost maybe a half a cup size, nothing to bad BUT now one is noticeably bigger than the other & they are A LOT more droopy than ever before.  This time around, I am back up to my full size I was after DS.  I?m guessing I will get a little bigger once the milk comes in & then come back down to what I am now.  I am praying that god decides to even me out this time around.  But I am saving for my 40th birthday present to myself: a lift for the girls to get them back to where god intended them to be.

  • I was a C before getting pregnant with my daughter.  By the time my milk came in, I was a DD.  After breasfeeding, I was a saggy B :(

  • Thanks ladies!!! I like being prepared!!! Sounds like there's a lot of variety, but that having a baby definitely requires a little sacrifice in the vanity department. Fine by me. : ) Just helpful to know what to expect.
  • I'm scared to see what's going to happen to my boobs. I'm already a 38DDD prepregnancy. Now, I'm only 7 weeks, and they're already more full. I think I may need to roll a cart around in front of me to carry my boobs!

  • For the first, I started with a B, and breast feeding ballooned them to a DD, and after I stopped, they Stayed at a C. Now, I'm pregnant with the second, (37 weeks) and they are already a DD, before breast feeding. Maybe a slight sag, but nothing to be concerned about, and my aerolas are a little bigger. I don't look forward to how large they are going to be when the milk comes in.
  • This is my 4th pregnancy. I have implants and my original bra size is 32B, after implants 34C. During pregnancy, they grew to 36C and then after delivery 34DDD, 34E. After nursing, they shrink down to 34C but definitely less full. I know I would be completely flat if not for my implants b/c after I am finished breastfeeding all I feel is implant. They look very natural and my hubby says they look better and better after each pregnancy. He's sweet. Good luck.
