TTC After a Loss

Turning a neg. into a pos., advice, & sorry mia

First- sorry I have been MIA! I don't even know if anyone noticed Stick out tongue but I just started school again last week, and so I have been up at my school, preparing my new classroom! I'm in a new grade (kinder), and have been VERY stressed about everything!!! Plus, now since I'm back at work, I'm only able to bump in the evenings! I'll try to play catch up! :)

Second- for all of you ladies with fairly "new" first losses- ALWAYS listen to your doctor. I know you hear this all of the time, and I did too, but I learned the hard way. After my m/c and D&C at 9 weeks, DH and I were told to wait 2 cycles- pretty standard. We decided to half-a$$ it, and not really AVOID completely ((but not try either)). Well.. I ended up having a c/p, and so now it has been 12 weeks since my D&C... 3 weeks since my c/p... and my stupid hcg levels were still at 5 as of Aug 10. I have had NO menstrual cycle since March 12.  I am SO MAD at myself because now this pushes back the whole process 4-6(or however long) MORE weeks!!!!!

Third- I've been feeling pretty blah lately, especially waiting on my dumb body to get back in gear. So I decided to take a 'negative' and turn it into a positive thing. I've decided to get LASIK, which you can't get during pregnancy!! It's something I've always wanted, and it'll make me feel 'better' and more patient about actually having to wait 2+ months until trying again! I've scheduled me consultation visits, and am hoping the procedure will take place in late Sept or maybe Oct. Anyone here have it done???

Thanks for listening!!!!!

  • I've noticed! Good luck at school. I still have a few weeks of summer left, but I've already been in my room a few times. That's exciting about LASIK! You should enjoy some time doing things for you. Sending you AF dust!

  • I'm so glad you posted as I've been worried about you!  I hope your school year is off to a good start and you have a good class.  I'm sorry to hear that things are still adjusting since your C/P.  However you're giving very sound advice and I'm glad you have a plan for the future.  Best wishes on the lasik.  My sister-in-law had it done a few years ago and said it was the best decision she ever made.

Huge hugs and I'm still keeping my fx for you when the time is right!

  • HUGS!!! And sending lots of AF dust your way!!!!

Good luck on the LASIK... I have also tried to find things to do while I'm not preg... first is xrays at the dentist that I couldn't get last time bc I was KU, so good for you!!! THinking about you!

  • I love that you have the attitude to turn your negative into a positive.  I had the same idea once AF arrived last week.  I decided that for every cycle I'm not KU, I'm going to do something I wouldn't be able to do if I had gotten KU (or hadn't had my CP).  I'm thinking this cycle will be to go to an amusement park.  Other ideas include dying my hair and possibly LASIK, although I'm terribly afraid of any and all surgery (but I have sucky eyes, so I really should get it done).  *HUGE HUGS* and GL with the surgery!!!

  • I've been wondering how you are doing. You've been through so much these past several months. Things are looking up between Lasik and your new classroom! I'm here to listen anytime. I hope your cycles get back on track here soon.

  • I noticed you hadn't been on lately! I will be missing all the teachers here as school gets started. I taught 4K for nine years, and it was a blast. I hope you enjoy your little ones! I think LASIK sounds like a great idea. Everyone I know who has done it has been super happy with the results. Good luck with everything!

  • I wondered where you had been :) Glad all is going well. GL with your new school year. My sis just had LASIK and loves it, really loves the results, although she still looks for her glasses (which she donated at the LASIK place to some charity). Smile

ETA: by "well" I mean as well as possible. I hope AF shows soon and your body gets back on track.

  • Welcome back! Don't be mad at yourself, hun...I think we've all been there and wanted to push those TTA limits (I know I definitely have).

I think it's a great idea to find something you couldn't do while pregnant to help you pass the time and give you something to look forward to. I was thinking the same thing myself, and am trying to plan a big trip for me and DH...we could do the trip if I was pregnant, but there'd be no drinking and no hot tub...not quite as much fun :)

I haven't had Lasik, but I really really want it! Good luck with your consultations...keep us posted!

  • Welcome back. Kudos to you for making a positive. I've always wanted to get lasik. Good luck on your school year. I have my first faculty tomorrow. I'm going to be an assistant in a K class this year. Love K kiddo's.
